After nearly 20 years as a band , including a break of several years , five studio albums and countless successful performances it was for the British band Skunk Anansie front woman around their iridescent skin time to try something new , and has played a whole gig purely acoustic . Here, new sides of the band , backed by some strings and a backing vocalist reveal they have taken 18 of their songs in a new guise. The result can be heard ( and seen ) allow , both on CD and on DVD / Blu-ray , you can now track the evening .
Some of the songs played here are rather quiet in the original version , such as the well known Secretly or hedonism. But they are reclaimed by the use of strings or a completely new package new pages. More interesting , of course, are the songs , which one would not have expected at first to also work well acoustically . My ugly boy or Charlie Big Potato underwent a complete transformation here , but do not lose their significance , their core.
Due to the reduced exploitation Skins bulky and yet empathetic voice is very very good, but here she shows a surprising facets of diversity. Here she proves that she knows best , the quiet , fragile tones. That hits the listener right into the heart , but here she turns on partially is the sophisticated rock singer and scores with harsh undertone .
As an opener Brazen ( Weep ) was selected , which begins with a gently plucked acoustic guitar , after a few cycles before using skins sonorous voice , energetic , persistent, but full of feeling . The chorus with the high, very distinctive tones is very catchy and very quiet despite the radiating energy.
As a further highlight to charity , using the rich melody turns out , short breaks and focusing on guitar and voice can listen spellbound , captures a downright and can wear with these few resources over the entire length . The text is presented forcefully and also works in this very quiet version just because of the very emotional statement.
The otherwise very weak rock cracker has also been greatly reduced , even if the drums plays a significant role in the structure of the instruments here . Also, the acoustic version is very energetic, here turns on skin and leaves almost snotty sound through their vocal volume , accompanied by the gentle voice of the backing singer , forming a neat contrast .
On the cover of the many ornate turquoise lines and the band names are in bold , bright colors in the foreground, some very dark photos can be seen in the background as grid lines . The whole thing is wrapped in a very handsome digipack - another plus there is the removable Rated label. Inside also dominate bold colors and numerous photos of the show , a booklet with a little text about the concert of skin completes the presentation zine .
The technical implementation can inspire , the sound is rich and full over and is already made from the ground up very loud. Well done also the mixture of band sounds and noises of the audience, the live atmosphere comes across very well without louder than the music. Even cinematically can convince with a very clear look of the evening. The image is very sharp, even in hectic no blemishes or wiper movements are seen. The lighting concept of the show is well received by the audience . Commendable also , that is not cut hectic common here as in other concert recordings .
Skunk Anansie delight with a very intense and haunting show, convincing musical , content, and vocal variety and have published with An acoustic Skunk Anansie a great concert experience that is likely to be much loved not only by fans. Excellent !
