Beethoven Shreds Fantastic Guitarist! 9 de agosto de 2011
Por Tony Elliot - Publicado en Amazon.com
Formato: CD de audio
The Great Kat shows why she's known as the world's fastest guitarist by ripping through classical music in Beethoven Shreds. Fantastic speed and brilliance, especially in Flight of the Bumble-Bee. The goddess of shred shows her dominatrix guitar power in Torture Techniques - Metal meets S&M! The Great Kat even whips out a violin on Paganini and the famous Beethoven's 5th. The most amazing high-speed guitar I've ever heard!

The Fastest Migraine Ever 10 de octubre de 2013

I recently received a promotional copy of "Beethoven Shreds", a CD "full" of classical music with a modern twist. The artist, Katherine Thomas, who goes by the stage name "The Great Kat", purports to be one of the fastest guitar shredders in the world and, according to some of the more popular guitar magazines, is one of the top 12 greatest female electric guitarists. As a lover of both classical music (Beethoven in particular) and guitar, I was excited to be able to review this CD.

I was, of course, even more excited to open the package and find not only the sealed CD, but also an 8×10 photograph of The Great Kat herself and a nice black guitar pick emblazoned with her name. As a guitar lover, this was absolutely great. Unfortunately, I can't say the same for the actual CD.

I had high hopes for an electric guitar version of some of Beethoven's greatest hits. But within seconds of popping the CD into the player I started to regret the decision. I was immediately blasted with a loud, fast, obnoxious sound that, within 60 seconds, had my head throbbing. Not a great thing from someone who calls herself the reincarnation of Ludwig van Beethoven. In fact, I'm pretty sure the German composer would roll over in his grave if he heard the music.

Thankfully, though, I didn't have to suffer through for very long. The entire CD, all 7 songs, was less than 8 excruciatingly long minutes in length. Between the insanely fast shredding (at least that part is legit), the screaming and the fact that the music struggles to keep a beat, I was extremely glad when the 8 minutes was up and I could yank out the disc and pop a few advil.

If you love fast screamo music, you might have a different opinion of The Great Kat and her "music". But if, however, you're a connoisseur of fine classical music, don't waste your time, or your money. After all, spending $8 for 8 minutes of pure hell is dumb. Unless you just happen to be a masochist.

needs therapy 11 de diciembre de 2013

I listened to this trash for a couple of minutes before deciding that this tart is a complete joke. She understands NOTHING about music, in her noise there's no passion, no artistry, no skill, no tone.

Supposedly, she went to Juilliard and became a CONCERT MASTER. Lol. If that's even true, she must subsequently bumped her head and reverted to the intellect of a monkey, because that's the musical equivalent for her.

Dressed like a hooker on drugs, this girl needs to grow up. Trash for 13 years old who think they are 'rebels'. Look at her website, a complete joke. She has a string of stupid things said about her by some ignorant wussies working for guitar magazines. Just because she's a girl and wears like a hooker.

She writes stupid nonsense like she invented 'neoclassical guitar playing'. Give me a break, I was around when Vinnie Moore recorded 'Mind's Eye'. There's no comparison. This tart is just a middle-class tyre-kicker with nothing to do, with no ideas, she can't write any music and she's really bad at performing other's music too.

Grow up and seek a therapist, Katherine.
