The book contains screenshots, so that the reader is able to see a visual representation of what is taking place, making it easier to follow.

Ayuda para preparar la tarjeta de arranque y como instalar las aplicaciones básicas de usuario.

I came across this while searching for the official "Raspberry Pi User Guide" by Upton & Halfacree [...][1 - not yet released at the time of writing this review).

I figured that at AU$6.20 for the electronic download, I didn't have much to lose. It turns out that it is a great reference for people who are new to Raspberry Pi (like me!), and also new to the whole Linux thing (like me - I dabbled in Linux a couple of years ago, but I am just about a rank beginner). I quickly sorted out a few of my "teething troubles" within minutes of downloading, so it has paid its way already, and more little gems pop up each time I read a bit more.

Highly recommended - especially for RasPi Newbies!

This book on Raspberry Pi is fine for absolute beginners who have never had any prior experience with Linux. There is plenty of useful information already available on raspberrypi.org website, and particularly on the Wiki and forum. This book is somewhat redundant, but still might be useful for someone with less time and patience to go through the information scattered across different web-pages. Raspberry Pi of course comes without any documentation and this book fills that need adequately for a start. I found two errors that need to be fixed: At location 490, the command "pwd" is described as "This tool is used when you need to change your password...". This is incorrect. "pwd" is for "present working directory". To change the password, the command is "passwd" as stated correctly later at location 652. There is a formatting problem (at least when viewed on Kindle Fire) from location 1397, at the table of HDMI modes, causing a serious error: one cannot proceed beyond this location! I had to jump to the end of the book and go back to the pages just after this offending table. Given these errors the book now seems a bit overpriced.

This book explained what I needed to know in plain English from installing Debian, to installing programs and it even got me programming my Raspberry Pi. Any computer jargon the is referenced is explained well using real world examples which demystifies any geek speak. This book is great for adults and children who want to understand the Raspberry Pi and what they can do with it. Great value for the money. Highly recommended.Beginning Raspberry Pi
