What Is Love?

In this thoughtful, provocative work, Osho—one of the most revolutionary thinkers of our time—challenges us to question what we think we know about love and opens us to the possibility of a love that is natural, fulfilling, and free of possessiveness and jealousy.

With his characteristic wit, humor, and understanding, Osho dares us to resist the unhealthy relationship patterns we’ve learned from those around us, and to rediscover the meaning of love for ourselves. “By the time you are ready to explore the world of love, you are filled with so much rubbish about love that there is not much hope for you to be able to find the authentic and discard the false.”

By answering the questions that so many lovers face, Osho shares new ways to love that will forever change how you relate to others, including how to:

• Love without clinging
• Let go of expectations, rules, and demands
• Free yourself from the fear of being alone
• Be fully present in your relationships
• Keep your love fresh and alive
• Become a life partner with whom someone could continue to grow and change
• Surrender your ego so you can surrender to love

Being in Love will inspire you to welcome love into your life anew and experience the joy of being truly alive by sharing it.

This is the latest official Osho book and, at this stage, I could buy it only on Amazon.com. I have read probably 12 of his books, every one more than once, and with this book I will do the same.

Not everyone resonates with his message, some find it too challenging, but for me it meets my experience and then leads me deeper into it. It is enlightening.

Like his others, this book deconstructs the illusions we live with and puts us in touch with a deeper or higher level of insight, with specific reference to being loving and relating to others, both intimately and generally.

As far as I know, you won't find better.

Once I realized the book is a compilation of speeches rather than a "written" text, the book was much more enjoyable.

The concepts are quite interesting and left a few gems that I'll be thinking about for a long time -- if not utilizing. Only 1 or 2 concepts were possibly too radical for me right at this moment, but for anyone in a long-term relationship or who's ever experienced heartache, I think it touches on feelings that we've had but didn't know why or how to break out of the cycle.

It's totally not a self-help book. It's truly the philosophy behind love. If you want something to debate with a group of guys & gals on a Friday night, get them all to read this book and see what comes of it!

The book starts out really good, but then you realise it has limitations because it was not written as such by the Rajneesh (OSHO) but rather is put together from interviews he had with couples, and so there is no flow as such. But otherwise he is a very clever insightful man and there is lots to learn from his unique way of looking at human relationships

OSHO's new book is what I feel to be a continuation of Love, Freedom and Aloneness. His view of love is revolutionary and eye opening. I love his way of making points through stories that are funny and aspiring. His idea of love is universal, and not limited to only one type of love like that of a mother, son, or wife. In truth he talks about loving each individual on the basis of love itself not on the title that person has in ones life. A must read for anyone willing to discover a new way to love without limitations and conditionality's.

I love spiritual books -- even if they aren't perfect from start to finish. This book, however, is glaringly weak. There are some nice parts, but in the end, I actually returned it.

1. The author's writing style is not very good. She is not a great writer. Ideas and structures do not flow like other great spiritual writings.
2. While the author is trying to break through the common barriers in Western society that choke away love, the author takes it too far by making plenty of negative, global statements about humankind, like "Nobody respects their children" and "Nobody loves". This is insane. Instead of books like this one that like to point fingers and say "Naughty, you're terrible!", I prefer spiritual books that honor what we do right. For a book about love, there is little love from the author to the reader. Frankly, the author is pissed off about people. I could not learn because of her condescending, shaming attitude towards the reader (and ultimately, mankind as a whole).
3. The author has deep-rooted issues with Masculinity. In the Q&A sections, she usually answers female questions by reciprocating their strength, their courage, and their sensitivities. On the other hand, she treats male questioners with horrible statements like, "Your girlfriend is right that you're boring. Oh, and you're an idiot." It really made my heart cringe. She thinks she can give men "tough love" -- as if men can handle her meanness, as if they deserve it, and as if women and men are spiritually different to begin with! Near the end of the book, she says, "Men think about far away things. Death and other planets." Then she says, "The female doesn't bother with this non-sense." Way to put men down, Osho. Overall, this book make me feel ashamed of being a man. So I put it down.
4. The spiritual teachings are not well explained. Where does she explain the depth and beauty of awareness? Spiritual principals are cut and pasted from all different sources with little reference or consistency.
5. This book may be good for the FIRST TIMER on the spiritual path. Mostly because the first timer can be fully occupied with this book. For most people, though, the book lacks depth.

This is only one of four spiritual books on love I returned. I am very glad to part ways with it. The book is filled with fear, anger, resentment and hostility. Terrible!

INSTEAD, get Ram Dass' "Be Love Now". This book has so much more depth than Osho's "Being in Love." It is for both men and women. The concepts of love apply not only to intimate relationships but to our relationship with every thing in existence. The stories are more intimate and honest. Most importantly, Ram Dass is filled with much more loving awareness than Osho, as evident by Osho's grand attacks against mankind (and men) who "never love" and who "never respect their children."
