Descripción del producto

Descripción del producto

After quitting her job and selling all her possessions, including her house, our lone female traveller found herself unemployed and homeless. With her only remaining possessions, her backpack and some books, she set off on a life-changing travel adventure through the countries of Thailand and India. Thailand offered peace, comfort, an easy lifestyle – and a lot of fun. India offered mayhem, frustration, challenges – and also a lot of fun. However, the most important thing that these countries offered was a happier and freer life. So follow our lone female traveller on her journey from a jail like existence of a stifling five-day-a-week government desk job and the relentless demands of modern day living to a new life of fun, freedom and frolicking.

PRAISE FOR I COME ALONE

What a trip! I could not put this down. The author has a unique talent for word craft and aesthetics that brings the reader right to the curb in these exotic and vibrant places. You see, hear and smell Thailand and India experiencing their rich and vivid cultures. This lively journey is informative, anecdotal, personal and always compelling. (Amazon UK site review)

I Come Alone is a fascinating story of a westerner travelling in Thailand and India told by a compassionate, perceptive and free-spirited author. (T. Howes, sub-editor, Bangkok Post, Thailand)

WHO’S RIGHT?

Some critics say that the author of I Come Alone is a brave, free-spirited, empathetic and compassionate person whose keen observations of people and situations make her a good storyteller. Others say that she’s uneducated, racist, myopic, ignorant and a drunk. You decide. Read I Come Alone for yourself and uncover the author’s real personality and real reason for writing about and sharing her discoveries in Thailand and India.

Biografía del autor

Michelle J Coote was born in Sydney, Australia. She followed all of society's instructions on how to create a successful life. Over many years of hard work, she had secured a university degree, a high-paying job, a big house and lots of stuff. But after travelling in other countries, she discovered she wanted something else. So she left the golden shores of Australia, travelled around more exotic countries for a few years, and then found a new home in a foreign land. The author now resides by the sea in Thailand, where the ocean breeze and fresh air help her to write about her tavelling adventures. 'I Come Alone' is the first account of one of those adventures.

I bought this as an ebook based on a recommendation from a friend. What a bargain!
My husband and I both found the book delightful, a very personal travelogue with insights into Australia, Thailand, and India.
The author's personal story is compelling, especially her estrangement from work and life in Australia and her move to freedom in Thailand and India.
I also enjoy traveling and it was great fun to read the details of her discoveries and disappointments.
Also just finished reading the rather heated remarks from a reviewer a few months ago. Certainly shows that the book is thoughtful and real, and can provoke a passionate response.
I didn't find anything offensive, but like any travel writer, the author does comment on her experiences and observations. That's why I enjoy travel writing, to see the world through another's eyes.
Looking forward to the next book from the author, on her continuing experiences in Thailand.
Get to work, Michelle!

I really enjoyed reading Michelle Coote's travel story - A courageous woman leaves her secure and comfortable (but boring!) life in Australia and dives into a strange world where everything is so different. Dangers multiply if you are a woman travelling alone but Michelle did it with all her naivety and innocence - and this attitude of hers seems to have brought out the 'gentleman' in even the roughest of rogues! Her compassionate understanding of, what must be to her, a bewildering array of people and events is indeed commendable. I liked your book Michelle and look forward to your next one - this time ? about your experiences in Thailand...
