Descripción del producto

The seven-week period between the Biblical festivals of Passover and Shavuot, or Pentecost, is the season of Counting the Omer (Leviticus 23:10-16; Deuteronomy 16:9-11). Originally in the Tabernacle and Temple of Ancient Israel, the priests were to present special offerings before the Lord each day for the fifty-day count. Psalm 67 was among the hymns recited and employed to offer praise and adoration to Him. Since the destruction of the Second Temple, various Jewish traditions have been developed in order to make the -seven-week or fifty-day Omer Count a very special time to focus on God, His blessings, and the important themes of Shavuot.

Today’s Messianic Believers can surely benefit from any discipline where God’s people can review various Scripture passages for a set time, and allow themselves to be prepared for great things when the Feast of Weeks is finally observed. The awesome wisdom and goodness of our Heavenly Father are things definitely worthy of exploration and contemplation, via a reflection upon the themes of various Psalms, and how they relate to our understanding of Shavuot and our faith in Yeshua the Messiah (Jesus Christ).

Counting the Omer: A Daily Devotional Toward Shavuot is a compilation of insightful, encouraging messages that examines a passage from Psalms every day for the fifty-day Omer Count season. Each exhortation is intended to prepare you for the commemoration of Shavuot (Pentecost) at the end of seven weeks. Gleaned from the studies and notes of William Mark Huey, it is the author’s intent that God’s people can not only be energized to Count the Omer themselves--but be specially prepared to experience His presence when the Feast of Weeks finally arrives!

The command to count the days up to Pentecost/Shavuot is found in Leviticus 23. It is a period of time after Passover that is overlooked if you only know about Pentecost from the book of Acts. This counting was an unknown verse/command/instruction for so many years to me and my family. Now that we are looking into the roots of our faith in Yeshua/Jesus, many previously unknown verses are coming to life in an exciting way!! This book--Counting The Omer has more information packed into it's pages than just devotional help. There is history, inspiration, Biblical interpretation and is just an enjoyable guide to a great discipline in obedience to our Creator. I used the Kindle version; next year I will use a book in hand as I like to underline and highlight. This is a recommended book--get your copy and see what you are missing!!

We first started to Count the Omer in 2009. Because it was our first time; we looked to Outreach Israel Ministries for help. We were introduced to Counting The Omer, A daily Devotional Toward Shavuot, William Mark Huey and have for the past 4 years used Mr. Huey's devotional. Each year we discover more of GOD's heart for HIS people as we journey through some of the most wonderful Psalms. We highly recommend this work for both the novice as well as the seasoned Messianic, Hebrew Roots believer!!
May GOD bless and enrich you as you journey to Shavuot!

This year on First Fruits (Easter) I began counting the Omer. That is the 50 days from First Fruits to Shavot (Pentecost). This helped me keep focused on God and what He has done and to prepare me for Shavot (Pentecost). This is the time when God gave the Torah to the Jews there at Mt Sinai...and Penecost is where the Holy Spirit decended on the early church 50 days after the resurrection.

This will be a keeper and I will use it to Count the Omer every year.
P.S. an Omer is a unit of messure when messuring barley.
