This Windows user guide explains how to launch and manage virtual Windows servers in the Amazon EC2. To manage and configure your virtual servers you can use the AWS Management Console (an easy-to-use graphical interface), the Amazon EC2 API, or web tools and utilities.

In this guide, you'll learn how to sign up for the Amazon EC2 web service, launch an instance of virtual Windows server in the cloud, connect to the instance, and terminate it. You'll get started using the AWS Management Console. After you’ve completed the getting started tutorial, you can use the overviews and procedures in this guide as a reference for Amazon EC2.

Before reading this book, I was baffled. Understandably, Amazon invented a lot of the technology that's in use. , so I guess they have the right to make up names for processes and procedures. A new user would not have this confusion. I've been around computers for 40 years, and ran networks consisting of hundreds of miles of cable.

That industry also made up their own names, but they were very similar to existing technology.

After reading this book, I felt all the fog lifting from my brain. most people recognize Amazon is the world's greatest retailer. many don't realize how powerful their worldwide redundant network is. Never wanting their store to be unavailable. A built data centers all over the world. Each one capable of serving their service area alone.

Having all this extra capacity, the next logical step was to share it with other people. I have been using their S3 storage for around five years and have never had a problem. Most people don't appreciate how they're able to backup gigabytes of data in a very short time.

In my opinion. Not only are they the world's greatest retailer, the one of the best technology companies also.

Difficult to keep it going, not explained well enough, or maybe the explanations try to hard to make something "simple" more compile than it is, and in addition, I was told I would get a free first year, and this year has been FAR from free. Check it closely before you sign on. You will be charged for you "experiments" offered to you for "practice."

I discovered this book when I went looking for basic information on creating an instance in the cloud for a client project.

The book provided enough information to help the client make some fundamental choices about which approach to take to get started.
