This book was a free offering for the Kindle. This story so far is a nice combination of espionage and science fiction. The story takes place on another world, but with very human characters. Two groups vie for power on the planet and war is close to breaking out. Into the mix a substance from one of the world's moons is found to be a potent weapon when combined with the right catalyst. Unfortunately the "soldiers" created from the substance appear to be uncontrollable and if developed to their full potential a threat to everyone, no matter which side deploys them. Because of this danger, factions develop within and without the military to try and stop development of the weapons while at the same time those seeking war continue to push for early deployment of the weapons. The story is filled with many varied and interesting characters - assassins, quirky and mad scientists, good and evil military types and a host of others. A couple of other story lines are also developing in the background as one of the main characters continues to work on a project to develop a new way to traverse space and another character works on bringing the dead back to life through tissue regeneration. The author also brings some romance and drama into the story as the relationships between several of the male and female characters are explored. This is the first book in the series and I plan on picking up the next book to see where all this is headed.
