I enjoyed this book, but would strongly recommend reading Angel Slayer, the first part of the series, before you read this. In theory, you should be able to read this book on its own, but to me the whole book made a lot more sense after I read Angel Slayer.
I think Michele Hauf is an excellent world-builder. Cooper and Pyx are likable characters, and their dialogue is sharp and witty. The book has a satisfying ending and I will definitely pick up the third installment of this series (out in August).
The only reason why I didn't give this book a 5-star review, is because it lacked in the physical department. No, there doesn't have to be a steamy scene in every chapter, but in this book it doesn't happen very much at all. It appears in the book that they don't go any further than third base. Pyx is technically a virgin, so for her to give that up should have been a big deal, but her losing a virginity and the emotional turmoil afterwards isn't mentioned in the book.
It doesn't have to be explicit or anything, but sometimes the relationship between Cooper and Pyx felt more than sibling rivalry than actual lovers.
Other than that, it is an excellent and enjoyable read, so it is definitely a 4 star review!
