Allan Tépper observed a great need for a simple, affordable, very high quality system for professional voice talent and podcasters who work independently in their home or office (or those who would like to be able to do so). Many professional voice talent have had to go to a studio which charges a high hourly fee. In some cases, the lack of an excellent, affordable system for their homes or offices have stifled their capability to do their own speculative ventures. Some voice talent have gone to the extreme of purchasing an isolating sound booth for their home office, despite its very high cost. Tépper also recognized that many professional voice over talent have enough technological expertise to record themselves without outside technical assistance, but the idea of using an editing program causes panic among some of them. This book will help resolve their need for an affordable high quality system with their existing Mac computer, via a very good hybrid USB/XLR microphone with headphones and a free (or very inexpensive) application for recording only (not for editing). This way, their connection to a Mac is 100% digital and completely bypasses the analog audio circuit in the Mac, thus preserving quality. In some cases and with some of the hybrid microphones covered in this book, you are even able to connect a hybrid microphone digitally to your iPad, also bypassing its analog audio circuit with the same advantage. If you later want to learn to edit, there’s no problem (and the recordings you’ve already made will be compatible), but it is not necessary to edit in order for you to offer your services as voice talent.
Tépper also observed disappointment in the audio quality from some webinar presenters and panelists. The advice given in this book will help them too.
