Biografía del autor
I've always been a lover of writing, but mostly dabbled in creating poetry while raising my three beautiful children. I am grateful my husband of fifteen years has supported me—albeit sometimes kicking and screaming—as I pursue this "hobby" of mine. Without his help, writing would be an impossible endeavor. In late June 2012, I felt an urgent tug of my pen, and I began writing one of my first novels, Collide. Although I thought it might never see the light of day, it gave me the courage to plunge headfirst onto a path I had never considered before.

Have you ever read a book or series that has seeped so heavily into your veins, your body, your mind that you think of nothing else? A book that has filled every void, every fiber within your heart and soul. A book you could read again and again and again. There are some books that you could never get sick of. Some that the characters come alive and embed themselves into every pore of your being. Collide and Pulse is that series for me. It's a series that I breathe, think and dream about. To be Emily Cooper and to be loved by a man like Gavin Blake. To be loved in such a way that you are cherished, savored and consumed. To own another human being the way Gavin and Emily own each other. To live the experience she had. I want that. I need that. This book has created that in me. The need to live through every line, every word, every paragraph. The author writes so beautifully, so eloquently that every page is a beautiful experience and a journey that's simply unforgettable. I have a lot of favorite books. Books that I have absolutely loved but this series is my favorite. It's a series that I care deeply about. The characters have come alive in me and are my friends that I love and cherish. Pulse is an emotional journey. One that puts you through the ringer. One that will make you laugh, cry and swoon. It'll crush your heart, your spirit, give you intense heart palpitations and then put you back together. It's what I call a "book experience!" You're not simply reading the story, you're living the story. Each and every part. It's a romance that's unforgettable. It's breathtaking and heart stopping. What I consider to be a MUST, MANDATORY AND REQUIRED READ!

In the book, Emily has made the choice to leave the man who was a safe bet and give the man who could be her forever a go. But there is a lot of history and a lot of issues that they need to work out if things are ever going to work out for them. Emily and Gavin make the journey with a cautious optimism that endears the reader to their sweet, yet sensual romance. The sparks between the two could start a fire, but it's the slow burning pulse that will keep their love alive through the years... that is if they can figure out how to get through the trying times and hold on to each other. After reading this book I found myself smiling and sighing in an all too familiar way, the sure sign that I'd truly enjoyed the book and lived vicariously through them just for a little while. As far as sequels go, I thought it was excellent. Good work Gail, I look forward to your next book!
I'll start at the beginning....I read Collide and was irate with Emily Cooper's actions at the end of the book. I mean really? What the hell? Emily was on my most hated idiot female heroine list right under Keirra from Thoughtless. I can now shout it from the roof tops that with 100% certainty Gail McHugh completely redeemed Emily and that this read was absolutely FANTASTIC!! Authors should take notes from Gail because this is how you write a sequel!!!!!
This book is so well done and well written that there is NOTHING I would change. Gail McHugh is one hell of an author and this book is a full 5 stars or more because the story deserves it. The characters evolved and grew although you may suffer heart palpitations, I wouldn't have had it any other way.
Pulse starts off right where Collide left off. Emily walks out of Dillon's apartment and decides follow her heart...Gavin. Sadly, Emily's day late and dollar short. After spilling his feelings all over the engagement party Gavin heads out of town and off the grid to lick his wounds figuring that the wedding is still on. Right from the get go...Emily isn't overly crying or indecisive she goes for what she wants and puts her heart on the line.
"Please forgive me for fighting against us in the beginning, Gavin. Please forgive me for not fighting for us when I knew we were supposed to be together. Forgive me for not fighting for us when I knew we were supposed to be together."
I'm not going to spoil any part of this story so let's say Emily doesn't disappoint she becomes the heroine a reader can relate to and love.
Gavin was swoon worthy, heart breaking and completely kick ass. He has a realness that is so endearing that I think he must be somewhere in Manhattan and this reader just has to keep up the search for him.
"I'm going to break you Emily Cooper. I'm going to break you down, and slowly build you back up. Second by second, piece by piece, and memory by memory, I'm going to make you realize you're worth what I'm going to give you."
Dillon is Dillon and all the supporting characters were well done as well. Go forth and click purchase because this is one sequel that doesn't fall short but surpasses its predecessor.
"We were written for one another, and I wouldn't change one line in our romance novel. The good, the bad, the in between. It's ours. We own it."
I can say with certainty that this was a much better installment that will leave you with heart palpitations and that's from experience! At one point my heart was racing with what could be on the next page and what was currently happening.
However, for some unknown reason to myself, we were bombarded with 3 filler chapters and a epilogue that kind of killed that anxious vibe that was coursing through once again, it totally dropped me from my high that I believe should have ended this novel. Once again also, the end of this novel was the best of it all. I have to say, Gail McHugh knows how to start and carry along drama with just the right pull and push.
So it's official, Dillon proved his evil side, even though I still believe it's more from hurt and betrayal than anything else. Afterall, he was blindsided! He finally did as I predicted from book 1 and got physically abusive which I am definitely not a fan of nor condone. Drunk is one thing, sober ... no bueno! People have died for less -_-
Once again, Gavin was handed the short end of the stick and he had to trod through hell with Emily but by God the man gives new meaning to the word swoon worthy, because with all the drama going on, I swear he kept us all grounded. We all should have Gavin Blake's in our lives and make a green mini van full of blue-eyed heart breakers ... tell me where to sign up!!! :)
Emily, Emily ... if anyone deserves their HEA is you and Gavin. The consolation prize for the emotional ringer of book 1 was certainly a good one, as you could not have received a better partner for the ride! I am going to admit that I have never really sympathized with Emily's the character, but shockingly I think that was due to the knowledge of how she felt mentally with regards to Dillon, and knowing that Gavin would catch her when she fell ... if your talking about romance novel story type love, then you speak of Gavin Blake, Emily Cooper and their twenty questions filled relationship.
While the dialogues barely improved in this one and a lot of unnecessary scenes and conversations still lingered, there were a few in depth scenes that were done really well and deserve their props. Namely, Emily's dream and *spoiler alert* child birth. They were both great in depth scenes with an air of realism to it all. We went through it all with her, from the first contraction to the baby's first cry. I have to say though, I would have liked to attend a wedding in this book, because Gavin deserved HEAs galore and for them to be noted.
The gang was back, and I love the honesty and fairness behind both Fallon and Olivia. Now those are friends to have! They weren't afraid of confrontation and speaking their mind, even if it meant hurting Emily/Gavin feelings.
Believe me when I say, that their are elements galore in this novel for you to peel back and explore, and even though I believed that a lot of scenes could be chopped from this novel, it had me in a way that very few novels hold me when it came down to the by product of this triangle even after it ended.
We were kept on edge and held with just the right amount of rope. The story line was one many people could relate. We were comfortable with the characters, and even the microscopic details that were relayed. Some helped that they add a sense of realism within the fairy tale of it all (e.g Lillian's reaction to the news). It definitely wasn't always rainbow and sunshine.
The sex scenes also didn't improve much but I stayed awake this time :)
I have to say that if you can get over the length, cliches and winded scene and chapters, you will get to the gem stone moments of this novel.
P.S. To the lovely lady who thought up that dream scene ... brilliant idea! Heart haven't beaten that fast in a while. Thanks for letting me know the ticker still works :)
P.S.S. ... great preview story at the end! :D
