Descripción del producto

Descripción del producto

David Whyte's body of work reflects the depth and breadth of a maturing artist, taking its readers on a passage through time and place, allowing us to bear witness to the constellation of difficulties, triumphs, adventures, losses, hopes and revelations that have shaped one particular human life. Whether writing of his Yorkshire childhood, trekking in the Himalayas, youthful partings in the mountains of South America, fireside talks on a Welsh farm with a friend with a passion for Blake, or the Ireland of his mother's heart, David Whyte's poems have their feet planted firmly in the natural world, simultaneously inviting us to join him on the path and admonishing us to get down on our hands and knees in the thicket and find our own way.

River Flow contains over one hundred poems selected from five previously published works, together with 23 new poems, including a tribute to an Ethiopian woman navigating her first escalator, a meditation of love and benediction for his young daughter, and a cycle of Irish poems that convey his deep love of the land and life-long appreciation for its wisdom. These are poems to be read and reread, poems that are sure to become companions on your own passage through the turbulent waters of a well-lived, well-loved life.

About ten years ago, a book of David's poetry literally fell of a bookshelf into my hands and had exactly the right poem in it for what I was going through at the time. Whyte's ability to reach into the heart and soul of whatever he is writing about is simply breathtaking. Needless to say, I was delighted to discover this collection of his writings. His works are beautifully crafted and rich with the kind of imagery and emotion that will stay with you.

I've had the pleasure of working with David Whyte in several workshops and it's such a thrill to see this compilation finally on the market! David's poems are quite powerful and are each works of beauty that move the soul in a very profuond way. This book contains his best work, including many new poems that will find their way into your heart. Get this book, but also check out his other volumes of poetry as well--you'll benefit greatly from his collected works!

I first discovered David Whyte while attending a workshop in Hawai'i. We watched a video of his presentation before a large corporate audience of "Heart Aroused." I had never heard poetry read in that way before. I was instantly drawn in. I must say that the only thing better than reading his works is hearing him in person. His audio CD's are amazing. I listen to him while I drive the 2 hours to the nearest big town in Montana. He inspires deep thinking and the desire for knowledge of self and the universe we live in.
