Valerie Jensen is one of two sets of twins. She is passionate about enriching the lives of people with developmental disabilities through meaningful employment and the arts. Formerly an elementary school teacher, starting in 2003, Mrs. Jensen has worked with SPHERE (Special People's Housing Education Recreation and Employment), a Ridgefield, Connecticut based non-profit organization whose mission is to improve the lives of adults with developmental disabilities. She has served as SPHERE's President since 2005. Romeo and Juliet: the Coloring Book was created as a way to bring Shakespeare's story to people of all ages and ability levels. In 2011, SPHERE will be performing "ShakeSPHERE: A Retelling of Romeo and Juliet" both on video and through live theatrical performance. This coloring book helped to inspire the actors. Mrs. Jensen now lives in Ridgefield, Connecticut with her Husband, Greg, whom she met when she was seven years old, and their three children, Oz and twins Rex and Tigerlily. She is an active member of the local community, a triathalete, a philanthropist, an avid card and scrabble player and an advocate for the disabled.
