Descripción del producto

Descripción del producto

I Shall Live tells the gripping true story of the Orensteins, a Jewish family living in Poland during the Second World War. When Henry Orenstein and his siblings end up in a series of concentrations camps, Orenstein's bravery and quick thinking help him to save himself and his brothers from execution by playing a role in the greatest hoax ever pulled on the upper echelons of Nazi command, including Heinrich Himmler.

Orenstein's lucid prose recreates this horrific time in history and his constant struggle for survival as the Nazis move him and his brothers through five concentration camps. His description of their roles in the fake Chemical Commando sheds new light on an incredible and generally unknown event in the history of the Holocaust. This edition of I Shall Live contains new evidence about this fake Commando, including letters to and from Himmler himself.

I have read a lot of Holocaust books and most of them tend to be specifically about the camps, which is fine if that's what you are looking for. This book expands on the camps and gives you an overview of how the war was proceeding as the Jewish people struggled.

This book was very hard to put down. The way he writes makes you feel like you are right there experiencing he whole thing!. I will read this again and again. Very interesting to note that the author has become a successful American inventor inventing many things that have become very popular in the U.S.! Highly recommended book about the courage persevere in the face of incredible odds..what a horrible thing that was done to those people during WW2..

Very good book about a time that never should have happened -- and which we need to remember, so it cannot happen again. This book is very useful in relating how normal lives were affect by Hitler, and also how the war progressed over the years.

She didnt even know us very well, and to walk to that river with us in the dark of night in such times of lawlessness and terror was an act of courage only the very best of the human race could perform. She was truly of Godsent by him to inspire courage in us, to counterbalance the evil that seemed universal, to hold out the hope that somehowin ways we shall never understand on this earththere is a reason for our being here. "e;
