Outstanding Patterns 28 de diciembre de 2013

The Lutterloh System has been around for more than 70 years, and was designed to be useful for the home seamstress to clothe her family. The Golden Rule method of pattern making has been perfected, and is very precise, offering the best measurement and fit of any pattern available.

This book contains a wide assortment, from formal wear, to casual wear, and even a few children's and men's patterns. The styles are modern, and not very classic, though you will find a few classic patterns. Most patterns are for ladies, so if you want more patterns for children or men it is best you get supplements.

This book is really designed for those confident in their sewing abilities, and are able to sew a pattern together without instructions. It is also designed for the seamstress who demands the perfect fit each and every time. Also you can mix and mach pattern pieces from different patterns to create your very own unique style, this is just not possible with most other patterns.

This is also, a great value giving you many patterns, enough for a lifetime. Very good value as it also includes the curves. If you love to sew, this is the perfect item to get.

I WAS SOLD A USED ONE, but Frank at Lutterloh made things right. 4 de enero de 2014

I opened the box and was happy to see that I finally got it, I wasn't able to really dig deep and look at everything that came in the yellow box, tonight after my little one got settled down for the night I was able to see what comes in the yellow box, I felt like a kid all over again getting the new toy I asked for, unfortunately I was given a used item, at first I was upset at the seller but in all truth the seller can't control the items that get returned by other customers if they got used, Frank at Lutterloh was extremely understanding and went above and beyond to make things absolutely right, the packaging was superb and the shipping time it arrived was just amazing, I would give 5 stars but I feel that the hasle doesn't warrant it, as far as the Golden Rule system itself it is a amazing system but it does need a complete overhaul and be brought into the 21st century, would I recommend it, yes I would, but it's mostly oriented towards women's clothing, I have a three year old and as far as dressing her there's not alot for her, you can be creative and do your own thing once you have the pattern. Hope this helps.

Lutterloh Pattern Making System 11 de abril de 2014

Though I still have to sit down and learn this system, it looks simple to learn. The fact that it's still around after 70 years speaks volumes. Though there are some patterns that I will never use, there are a lot of others that I can't wait to try! I also have plans to eventually buy a few of the supplements. I'm sure I'll be using this for many, many years.

It arrived earlier than expected and was a pleasant surprise. I've used this system before but unfortunately I lost it in a move.

A lot of work for a pattern that you have to alter anyway 16 de septiembre de 2015
Por ELIZA - Publicado en Amazon.com
I know some people love this system, but I didn't care for it. I own both the standard and the XL-XXL versions. I've tried a couple items and I find that I would have to tweak the patterns about as much as a regular pattern from one of the big four pattern companies. I find the styles in the XL version to be outdated and some are downright dowdy. I understand how the drafting of the patterns works and have done it, but be forewarned that the small pattern pieces like collars and collar stands are very confusing. The cross where you put the pin to hold down the tape is not printed on the piece itself, but off to the side. So when you try to extend the lines by the points on the pattern, they don't line up exactly and it is hard to tell which measurement goes with which line. In addition you sometimes have to draft facings on your own. And if you learned to sew with the big four patterns and are used to having the seam allowances marked on the pattern pieces, don't forget to add your seam allowances as these patterns do not include them. I also think this system is overpriced. I paid $76 for the XL version plus S&H. Since this method has been around since 1935, I don't understand why it is so expensive. I suppose I want my sewing experience to be enjoyable, not a chore. You had better have plenty of experience sewing clothing and altering patterns if you want to use this system. It is not for beginners or occasional seamstresses.
