New York As It Was and Probably Still Is 30 de octubre de 2013

Having lived in Brooklyn during the period in which this novel takes place, I must commend the author upon the accuracy of his description of the atmosphere and semi-chaos of that crime-ridden borough during those years. The attitudes of the police, ethnic groups and city employees is as I remembered it; including the "Best Free Night Show In Town" at what we called (not knowing the correct term, "Night Court"). It was an excellent place to go whether looking for a place for a cheap date, or having nothing better to do than gawk at the show.
The characters are well drawn and reflect the milieu in their thoughts and actions. The plot is well-paced; a nice vehicle that enables the author to recount many interesting and at times hilarious incidents. The physical description of the locals is quite accurate; to the point where one can visualize the Formica table and chairs in the kitchen and its significance for a working class family.
Some books would make a good movie; rather this would be an outstanding TV show.

You can feel the real! If you liked the film "Summer of Sam" or the tv show "life on Mars", both of which captured the 1970's gritty NYC crime genre well, you will really enjoy this book.

Highly readable & engrossing; an authentic slice of NYC life in the mid-seventies ( believe me because I was there); strongly recommended
The Real Truth of a Prosecutors life. 9 de noviembre de 2014
Por A music fan - Publicado en
Formato: Versión Kindle
Engrossing book of what really goes on in the D.A.'s office. Believe me, this is the truth, not what we see on "Law and Order". Not the glamor depicted on other television shows. It's the day to day, paperwork, investigations and tedium which is the reality of the prosecutors life. For those of us brought up in Brooklyn, you can really feel the hot muggy pavements, you can imagine the Cops and Prosecutors in their suits, and uniforms, sweating. A must read.
