Descripción del libro

Can a young woman with a rare and beautiful mind forge an equally beautiful life? When that woman faces both the gifts and challenges of Autism Spectrum Disorder, that which isolates her from the world may be the very thing that joins her with a soul mate. Author Yahnira Backus's poignant futuristic novel charts the emotional journey through the complex channels of the human mind, as well as the deep recesses of the human heart. Inspiring and suspenseful, this wildly inventive, profoundly insightful work of fiction is certain to resonate with anyone who champions the transcendent power of love. Set in the near future, The "A" List centers on a bold new world where the incidence of children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (renamed ASP Syndrome) has risen to epidemic proportions. When the government takes notice of the promising research conducted by Dr. Michael Glenn, he is given the green light to oversee a groundbreaking research facility, the Glenn Research Facility (GRF), which offers ASP babies an optimal environment to realize their strenghths and overcome their neurological obstacles. However, in order to succeed, the selected infants must be taken from their birth parents to be nurtured and tested. One such infant, Sarah GRF81230, has emerged into a breathtaking and brilliant young graduate, who soon learns that she has been preparing for one of the most important medical and political debates in history. As Sarah navigates new terrain in both her mind and her heart, she reunites with her birth family, and forges a meaningful new tie with her new colleague Josh. Tapping into an inner strength to overcome her perceived obstacles, Sarah creates an inspired, rich life. Harnessing the healing power of fiction to mine deeper truths, The "A" List will open the minds of anyone who seeks a better understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder, as well as open the hearts of those who relish a rare romance.

This is a good reading for everyone who likes a good and clean story. You feel connected with the character and her thinking. I specially, a sufferer of Tourrett, felt her description was my own writing. The end is very uplifting, you wish all children with ASP had the same success.

This book has a unique premise - a futuristic book about people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and the evolutionary change it may signal. The author's medical background contributes to the authentic feel of the protagonist who works in a laboratory with a medical team searching for the cause of the disorder.

It's written in first person and provides a glimpse into the thought process of someone with ASD. It even has a romance - a huge plus in my opinion!

I recommend this book - especially to family members touched by ASD.

Anyone who has a child or adult with a mental disability needs to read this story. I read it in 2 days and only put it down when I was so sleepy I had to go to bed.
The story set in the future is wholesome and I love a book that doesn't drag and has characters you really care about, the extra bonus for me was learning to see life differently. I hope this author continues to write more books. Her style is so easy to read. A WONDERFUL BOOK!!!

I really enjoyed this book! Autism is a relatively new subject for me. I have freinds with Autistic children, but this book opened my eyes to some of the unique challenges AND strengths that people with Autism can have. I feel that this book has the power to change the way people see people with Autism. The story line was gripping and kept me turning pages. I liked that I was able to see the world through the main character, Sarah's, eyes. I felt a connection with the characters and had strong feelings while reading about the different experiences that came up for Sarah. I was happy with how everything was resolved in the ending. Great book and I recommend it to anyone who is looking for insight on Autism and a great story!
