Descripción del producto

For readers of Born to Run by Christopher McDougall, The Barefoot Running Book lends practical advice on the minimalist running phenomenon

Ditch those cushiony running shoes—they’re holding you back and hurting your feet!

You’ve heard about barefoot running and how it can reduce injury and allow for better form. Maybe you’ve even tried it and learned how shedding those heavy, overly- manufactured shoes can make running more enjoyable. Regardless of your expertise level, Jason Robillard—a leading expert on barefoot running education and director of the Barefoot Running University—synthesizes the latest research to ease you from barefoot walking to slow running to competitive and trail running vis-à-vis simple drills, training plans, and useful hints from fellow barefoot runners.

Practical, easy-to-follow, and illustrated with black-and-white photographs throughout, The Barefoot Running Book shows how everyone can transition to barefoot and minimalist shoe running—safely and optimally.

Ever since Born to Run, the barefoot craze has been growing with more and more people trying to capitalize on the barefoot/minimalist market. Author Jason Robillard was one of the very few who were teaching and practicing barefoot running long before it became popular. His passion for this topic is genuine, and he has years of experience. While many barefoot runners stick to easy surfaces, Jason has run on technical trails, and even run barefoot ultra marathon distances. He has explored the full spectrum of barefoot running and pushed his feet to the limit. I don't know anyone better suited to write this book.

You a cushioning running that wants to improve your technic by doing some barefoot trainings? Do you feel pain when running and even your doctor can not give you a solution? Then I think the book is perfect for you.

5.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Down to earth, practical advice 6 de diciembre de 2012
Por BF in AZ - Publicado en Amazon.com
Formato:Tapa blanda
While there are a lot of good reasons to try barefoot running, some people overstate the case, promising miraculous instant results. Jason Robillard is not one of those people. He takes a very real world approach to barefoot running, basing his advice on his own experiences and those he knows. The advice itself is excellent, drawing from a variety of eclectic sources (ChiRunning, Pose Method, etc.) while weeding out misinformation and questionable dogma. Robillard doesn't bog the reader down with too many details, but everything that a new runner needs is clearly laid out here. He even covers racing, training schedules, cross-training, and ultrarunning, so this book is all many runners will ever need. The organization can be a little bit disjointed at times and it's not inspirational in the way that Born to Run is for many people, but the end result is a book that lays out the basic information a new barefoot runners needs in a straightforward, unconfusing way.
