I’m loving this gorgeous book, it's so much fun just to browse through, total eye candy! While there is certainly a lot of gorgeous, grown up cakes, since I run a children’s party business, I was especially drawn to the fun children’ recipes. My kids love the chalkboard cookies with edible chalk, I think that idea would work especially well at an art party. And the Cotton Candy Cloud Cookies are so whimsical and pretty! There’s lots of sprinkles throughout, even homemade ones that you make using royal icing. I’ve already tried the Rainbows and Sprinkles cake, with six layers and colorful sprinkles pressed into the side. I made it for Easter, so I went a little more pastel, but it still turned out beautiful! My son has a space themed birthday coming up and I really want to try the Blue Moon Dream Cake with purple ombre frosting and tiny edible stars decorating it. I really liked the resource section in the back, with basic recipes and techniques explained in extremely clear and easy to follow instructions with photos. I’m new to a lot of decorating techniques, so I learned a lot from her expert tips, including how to work with fondant. The three ingredient Shiny Chocolate Glaze is one of my favorite recipes now, I’ve used it on cookies and cupcakes and I’m looking forward to using it on brownies, too. Fantastic book!

Anybody who personally knows me and my love for baking knows how excited I am about getting this book. It has so many amazing recipes. It has things I didn't even know about and I have been baking for so long, I don't even know how I started. It has so much useful information and how-to's. I am so excited about trying out all the recipes, little by little. I even found the perfect recipe for my mothers wedding!

Sweetapolita has so many cute ideas. In fact, I found a bunch of recipes I could even include my four year old little sister in... and we all know how much toddlers love to get messy with baking. From the moment I got this book I couldn't stop reading all the recipes and all the information this book had.

This is such a fantastic cookbook, it is great for moms and grandmas, it has so many great ideas and what is so great about it your kids and grandkids will have a blast decorating the cakes and cookies. What I loved about this cook book was it has chalk and chalkboard frosting. Yes you read that right. Edible chalk and chalkboard.
This is just the best cookbook for moms and girls to have a blast in the kitchen together.
I found all of the recipes easy and they were made with things I have in the panty already.
I gave this cookbook 5 stars. I highly recommend it to all the bakers out there.

It’s not everyday you come across such beautiful baking books as Sweetapolita. The time and dedication it took to create it are second to none. With its beautiful pastels and mouth-watering photos, it’s easy to see why it has become my favorite baking book EVER! Rosie’s recipes appeal to not only adults, but kids too. There is literally something for everyone. She covers all the basics from cookies to cakes to frosting. However, that’s not all she has up her sleeve. There are even recipes for homemade sprinkles and chalkboard cake. YES you read that right, chalkboard cake! It is a black fondant covered cake that you can write on with edible chalk! If you buy only one baking book, let Sweetapolita be it!

The photos are truly out of this world. They are so beautiful and literally make you want to eat the pages. Since you can’t quite do that, Rosie makes the recipes easy to read and understand. They don’t feel like they are written in another language. All of the ingredients are things you would find in your pantry or at the grocery (and of course, there is always my favorite for finding unique ingredients, Amazon). She lets you know exactly which brand she prefers to use for certain ingredients. This is important when you go to look for something and there are so many options to choose from.

'My favorite section is the very first one, “Sprinkles Spectacular”. I love that she teaches you how to make sprinkles at home. I am amazed at how expensive they are in the store. It’s hard to believe that something so tiny cost so much. To make the sprinkles she fills a pastry bag with her Royal Icing recipe (page 194) and uses the number two decorating tip to pipe long rows. Then she says to let this dry overnight. The next day, use a sharp knife to cut them into small pieces. Pretty amazing right!?

I am most excited to try the Cotton Candy Cupcakes on page 50. Not only are they adorable, they are quite easy to make! The cupcakes are your traditional vanilla cake recipe but her secret ingredient is cotton candy flavor oil. She also uses the same oil in the marshmallow frosting. (Oh how I LOVE marshmallow!) To finish them off, add a dollop of cotton candy and a glittery edible star. I don’t know anyone who wouldn’t love to have these served up at their next birthday party!

Are you a doodler? Are you creative in the kitchen? DO YOU LIKE TO EAT decorated cakes and cookies? If you just like to eat cake you will want to read this fun bakebook. I think I not only have a sweet tooth, I believe that every tooth in my head craves sweets! I'm like a little girl on Christmas morning when I get a new cookbook/bakebook to read. So when I received Rosie Alyea's bakebook Sweetapolita (which happens to be the name of her blog), I began at the front of of her book and joyfully skipped through the sugar sprinkles, edible chalks, painted cakes, candy clay and edible varnish, all the while thinking this is too cool- my friends and family and especially my grands are gonna think I'm the most cool and imaginative cake decorator on the planet!

This is such a delightful book full of step by step instructions (don't be scared off by the titles- like Coney Island Cheesecake or CLOUD 9 CAKE. I recommend this book for those wanting to elevate their baking skills and are willing to invest the time to accomplish incredible edible delicacies.
