Early 90s greatest hits and more 29 de julio de 2013
Por Paul Allaer - Publicado en Amazon.com
Formato: CD de audio
Just this weekend I saw the movie "The To Do List", that racy but funny comedy starring Aubrey Plaza. The movie is set in summer of 1993, and the songs featured in the movie are a veritable treasure trove of (mostly) early 90s hits and more. After the movie I decided to check out the movie soundtrack.

"Music From the Motion Picture The To Do List" (12 tracks; 50 min.) kicks off, as does the movie itself, with 2 Live Crew's "Me So Horny" and that sets the tone for this sex comedy. Somewhere along the way in the movie we get a number of other racy songs, including of course the classics "O.P.P." from Naughty By Nature, and Salt-n-Pepper's "Let's Talk About Sex", which seems to be everywhere these days (it was also featured in "Pitch Perfect" and very recently also in "Unfinished Song"). When the movie hits a tender moment, we get Mazzy Star's "Fade Into You", which still sounds great, as well as the Cranberries' "Dreams", which is not ageing very well (in my humble opinion). And how can you have music from 1993 and not include a song from Gin Blossoms? So "29" is included here. I was pleasantly surprised with the inclusion of James' "Laid" in the movie. This song is short and sweet, and still so now 20 years on. Other artists on here include Elastica, Tears for Fears, The House of Love, and Big Head Todd & the Monsters. As the credit of the movie roll, M.C. Hammer's over-exposed and played-to-death "U Can't Touch This" blasts away. They really couldn't come up with something else?

In the movie, Brandy (played by Audrey Plaza) has several music-related posters in her bedroom: one features Eddie Vedder from Pearl Jam, and the other one is an REM Green World Tour 1989 poster. Interestingly, neither of these bands are featured in the soundtrack. Maybe the producers couldn't get the licensing rights or more likely, they couldn't afford them. That aside, the soundtrack of "The To Do List" is a nice blast from the past. Hard to believe it's been 20 years already for most of these songs. Enjoy!

Wasn't exactly like the songs in the movie. Wouldn't recommend it . Movie was good, soundtrack had much to be desired.
