He started freedom fight in 1847 A.D against British, 10 years before the Indian rebellion of 1857. He was a native of the Telugu speaking region of Andhra Pradesh in Southern India. He born in Vuyyalawada, Koilakuntla taluk of Kurnool district in Andhra pradesh. British emperors hanged him at jurreru river bridge in banaganapalle of Kurnool district.
