Formato: CD de audio
I became acquainted with the music of Smash Palace through a serendipitous radio encounter upon the late 2007/early 2008 release of their fantastic album "Everybody Comes and Goes".

I was thrilled to learn of the band's latest offering, "7", and I placed an advance order.

It's as wonderful and joyous to listen to as any music I've heard in, well, the last 2 years since "Everybody Comes and Goes".

Think of the melodic, catchy songs of the Beatles and the Electric Light Orchestra--tunes you find that creep into your mind and you find yourself playing them in your head. Then think of the guitar-driven melodic pop songs of Cheap Trick and Tom Petty. Meld them all together and you have Smash Palace giving sound to the unparalleled song-writing genus of Steven and Brian Butler.

Smash Palace isn't out to copy anyone; they're their own band. They just know how to do it right and I consider them the best at what they do. All the big-name, so-called artists that get air play on commercial FM radio are lame beyond reckoning. Their songwriting stinks. None of them have a voice you actively want to listen to. The music is so overproduced and without soul you may as well open up a can of soup and call it homemade.

If you were raised, as I was, on Classic Rock and the true talents of true artists who produced the best music the world of rock has ever seen during the 1960s, 70s and 80s, then give Smash Palace a listen and revel in what real, intelligent, excellently-played guitar pop always has and always should have sounded like.

Smash Palace is the keeper of the tradition.

Jeez.....how do they do it? Steve & Brian have kicked it up another notch. This CD is better than Everybody Comes and Goes. It opens with Win It All; it just grabs you and says LISTEN TO ME. (look for the video on YouTube) How Can You Say follows, and has a really cool hook. Other highlights include Human Kind, which just could be the best of multiple great tunes in this effort. And then All In Love Is Fair pops up right after, with some great lyrics ("For one moment there I thought that you cared"). Here It Comes Again harkens back to the band's early days. And the sleeper of the whole bunch is the last one, Solo. It just grows and grows until you're singing along with it.

Great playing from Steve Butler, super drumming from Greg, and everyone else hangs with them all the way through.

Get to your radio stations and request some Smash Palace. This is one fine, fine CD.
