Descripción del producto

Descripción del producto

This ebook on A3 Problem Solving is meant to demystify some of what people know and hear about A3s. In the past 5 years, it has become one of the most prominent lean tools. But while the work itself is hard, the method doesn't have to be as complicated as it is made. In this ebook, we get to the core of what it's all about, how you use it, and connect it to lean thinking throughout. Afterall, a template is useless without the thinking.

I hope you find it useful, but please share your experiences, feedback, and other comments.

Sincerely,

Jamie Flinchbaugh
Lean Learning Center

I downloaded "A3 Problem Solving" at 10:30AM, finished reading it at 1:30PM and started writing this review immediately after that. Mr. Flinchbaugh has done a remarkable job of explaining the very basics of A3. I have read several books on this topic but some of them did not elaborate on specific factors which determine success of a project or a problem solved using A3 methodology. There are many creative ideas discussed in "A3 Problem Solving" but the most appealing to me are; the problem solvers' inkling to jump from current to future state too quickly and having predispositions for specific solutions to the problems at hand - experience has shown that ability to resist these two temptations determines the ultimate quality of an A3.

Although people in any organizational role can benefit from this book but is especially useful for lean coaches and practitioners looking for concise material on basics and background of A3 methodology. My two observations about the book; it would have been helpful to add more explanation about the levels and scopes of A3s; strategic A3 for long term business planning, operational A3 for enhancing productivity and problem solving A3 for solving specific problems or localized improvement projects. Also, the A3 example illustrated on location 424 of 455 more closely resembles to a strategic A3 than a problem solving A3. Again, my observations by no means undermine the quality of material presented in this book. In short, money and time well spent.

Chose 5 stars because I was able to take first the main concept of the book, rendering a complex problem that otherwise would be a large report onto one A3 sheet of paper. Very recently was able to take a 76 page re-org report and render it down to an A3 Org Map with far, far more cohesion and relatable data. Included the potentially affected staff into assembling the "Map" and presenting it to senior management - full ownership achieved. The problem solving elements of the book equally worked well in terms of "mapping" 5-Why and other tools. Right concept/paradigm at the right time for me.

This book is a very good example of why you should begin your A3 journey. The vision of a standard format for problem solving for all to see and understand each other's thinking. I have used it for for many years being an X Toyota guy. I like the focus on A3 Thinking, it's not just a form.

I would recommend this book to leader wanting to understand what a real lean leader should know about problem solving.

Brilliant, must-read book! It complements excellent 50 min YouTube lecture given by the author. This books is the quickest way to get introduced and learning Lean A3 thinking. A follow up book would be John Shook's "Managing to Learn".

I need to say that I like the way the information was explained. I am strong believer in the critical thinking usage, from the Opex six sigma program and the use of the lean thinking in the A3 process has a lot common in the way to define and solve the problems.

Recommended for people that like to drive a change in the mindset or people that like to solve problems from the root cause.
