I purchased the 3 man tent figuring that I would use it solo most of the time or with my wife when she comes along. There was plenty of space for me and my gear. I left my mostly empty pack outside the tent under the vestibule I wasn't using to get in and out of the tent. Worked great. Pack stayed clean, dry and out of the way. There are plenty of gear pockets inside the tent to help keep your stuff organized and at hand when you need it. There's also a gear loft included which is great for keeping keys, wallet, cell phone, etc up and out of the way. My only complaint re: the gear loft was that it was a little tough to remove when I broke down the tent because the hooks that keep it in place have small barbs on them to ensure they don't become dislodged accidentally. Unfortunately that makes it tricky to remove when you actually want to. I'm sure it will get easier after I use the tent a few more times.
This is a true backpacking tent so it's pretty light weight. I took the poles out and strapped them to the side of my pack. The tent/fly itself I put in a stuff sack that I had and it compressed down to nothing. I put it up quickly, although getting the floor saver made for the tent situated was a little challenging, by myself and had no issues with water leaking or seeping anywhere. When it came time to pack up I was pleased to be able to simply stuff everything back into my stuff sack and get moving. Previous tents I've used basically required folding and rolling to get them packed efficiently. This tent, because it's all lightweight fabric, stuffs very easily and doesn't hold air like a balloon.
The aluminum poles are very nice quality. I liked that I could just pick the whole tent up by the poles (minus the fly) and shake any dirt and debris that made it's way into the tent. Sweeping a tent out is a drag. I'm confident that this tent would withstand severe storm conditions without collapsing. The poles are all interconnected so effectively there's only "one" pole and it practically snaps itself into position when you unfold it. Once the poles are ready it's just a matter of popping them into the grommets at the corners of the tent and attaching the hooks to the poles. Rain fly was fairly simple to attache as well. I really liked that the corners buckled to the tent. That should make it easier to get in place on windy days.
Good luck, happy camping!
