This CPU seemed like a perfect improvement for a solid price. And it sure was!
This CPU installed without much of any trouble. The only trouble I had was with the heatsink/fan that AMD gives you with this processor.
My old CPU used a heatsink that is screwed down into the motherboard, while this one uses straps to lock it down. So, at the moment I have my computer laying down so the fan doesn't fall off. I'll work on getting a solution soon though.
But this means that you might have a bit of trouble with the included heatsink. You might be asking at this point "Why not just use my old heatsink/fan?" Here's my answer, DON'T use your old heatsink! I actually tried this and my computer wouldn't boot up correctly. So I just went the safe route.
All in all, this CPU is amazing! It will speed up everything on your computer at a pretty affordable price. On top of that, it doesn't use a lot of power so you don't have to worry about your current PSU.
To finish this off, Windows 7 on my computer gave this CPU a 7.3 out of 7.9. That's just about perfect.
I ended up using this CPU with a nForce MSI NF750-G55. This CPU is only 95 watts so it runs cool and quiet. There is no L3 Cache, but at 3.2 Ghz, it doesn't seem to make a difference
compared to the older 9850 at 2.5 Ghz. The lack of L3 cache shows it is basically a faster Athlon X4, but they still call it a Phenom. Its been up for several weeks with zero problems.
