With this in mind I knew firmware was going to be an issue. Everyone says the firmware needs updated and reading other comments if you update the wrong firmware then your card will no longer work. This is correct however let me solve this problem and explain to you in an easy manner how I fixed this.
After installing the card I followed exactly what user guide (that came with the product said) go to gamerzone.avermedia.com and get the RECentral from their website. THIS part is where most users have issues. I like many other people did this wrong the first time. I went under their :support tab" and went to download. This brings up a nice easy menu to download the most recent updates. This is WRONG....I repeat DO NOT DO THIS! If you do...you will download the wrong firmware and the card will not work. (To fix this go under your programs and uninstall anything to do with Avermedia - it should automatically remove all drivers and all of the program - as this is what my computer did)
What you need to do is go under the "Product" tab on the top of the page and select "Live Gamer HD" or whatever card you may have bought - the one I said is this card- From here you need to make sure your pop up blocker is off - IF you do not do this then you won't be able to download the link in here.
The link in here is an older version of RECentral which will not be able to install IF you haven't removed the RECentral download from the "support" section of their website. - Hopefully I didn't lose yet -
Downloading this fresh link will give you the correct firmware and drivers to use the card. If you have done everything correctly to this point then the issues with firmware should be fixed. - IF this doesn't work then I'm sorry that I may have wasted your time but this is exactly what I did and at first the card didn't work and now it does!
The card works exactly as it says. I don't lag and it takes stress of my CPU and my live stream is BEAUTIFUL! I can stream higher quality video without stressing my CPU like I did before getting this card.
Hopefully this review helps some people fix their firmware issue as well as helping them decided what capture card to get.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H1ilpfQzwMA - this youtube link explains how to do a lot of the installation and is overall what helped me decided to go ahead and pick up this card.
Hopefully you guys have good luck at getting your card to work and happy streaming/capturing those great moments!
The capture software in my experience.is where the card falls behind. Anytime I captured long runs with it, the audio became out of sync. I almost returned the card, but I never have had an issue with it using the streaming software Xsplit Broadcaster. On either Windows 7 or now Windows 10. Xsplit isn't just for streaming either, it can be used to record video to a local hard drive as well. The free version has plenty to offer, but the higher licensed versions have a great set of features as well.
I have been using this card with Xsplit for over 3 years now. Streaming and local recording works like a charm. I don't see a point of jumping to the liver Gamer HD 2 for 30 fps more, but I am also not a super hardcore gamer geek, so that doesn't mean much to me.
Keep in mind, I was looking for an option to play on my monitor so I needed the live preview to function properly. I saw some reviews that claimed it had a 6 frame delay buy mine was really responsive to only 2 frame delay. Such a bummer, I really liked the quality of the video.
I use this for streaming my video games to twitch.tv, and the quality it puts out is amazing. I normally record at 720p with 60fps, I have also used 720p 30fps and 1080p 30fps. They all work great.
