5.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Excellent monitors for the price 28 de agosto de 2010

I had a very nice NEC monitor finally give up on me. I went ahead and got two of these monitors since the price was great and I run dual monitors. After setting them up, and then calibrating them, I went ahead and ordered a third one. Yes, I am now running a triple monitor setup with the three Acer's and couldn't be happier. I have 0 bad pixels, and have had no issues with any noise at brightness levels below 80 as I had read from a couple of people. Customizing is very easy using the touch buttons, and the calibration of all three went perfect using my i1. If you are looking for a great value, look no further.

*Note, the review posted below is one that I originally posted under the Acer H243H monitor to address an issue in which some reviewers had with the product, which I felt I had an answer for having dealt with the same issue with my dual H233Hs... so it's kind of focused on that issue. I just copied and pasted it here to save time:

I own two Acer H233H monitors, which was what the H243H replaced. I was about to pick up a third monitor, the H243H, when I decided to check out the reviews on Amazon and compare some specs from the H233H to the H243H. When I brought both products up, I noticed that the reviews seemed a little less favorable for the H243H compared to the H233H, so I gave them a look. I came to a negative review which left only one star because the monitor made a "humming" noise that was intolerable.

I thought it was a bit serendipitous to have come across such an issue when I just realized and resolved it on my own today with both of my monitors.

I never really noticed the humming till recently when running the two of them together. I attributed the "humming" to one of the monitors which I had dropped some time ago - it also happens to be the first of the two that I purchased, which was about 3 years ago, at least.

On the monitor, go to Menu > Brightness - adjust to level 100. It's that simple!

With my monitor(s), I had the Brightness set at level 45 or 50 and the Contrast set at level 50. I don't know if that's Default or not because I've screwed around with the settings before (actually recently). Regardless, setting your monitor level to Brightness level 100 will get rid of the "humming" noise. You can try lowering the level and listen as it comes back. As to why it happens to work this way, I don't know. All I do know is that I've done it with both of my monitors and there is no more noise. I also lowered both levels to test and the noise came back in both cases.

More on this monitor:

I can't speak directly for the H243H yet, (I'm heading out to buy one when I finish this review, though because it is on sale!), but my dual H233Hs have been very good to me. I bought the first about 3 years ago, give or take, and it's survived a beating, literally. I've dropped it once, on it's face, which scratched the casing a little, but did no damage to the screen. And just the other night, when I was very frustrated with myself (not my PC or my monitors) I actually took the older of the two monitors and tried bashing the back of it on my knee a few times, then tossed it on my desk when I was done.... When I came to my senses the next day, I cleaned up my mess and hooked everything back up - the monitor works 100%! If anything, I probably did more damage to my knee....

Some other notes:

-I bought the second monitor within a year after buying the first because I was so pleased with the quality and the price.
-As I said, I'm planning to buy third, the H243H, today, which is about an inch bigger and has slightly better specs than the H233H, at least in response time at 2 ms as opposed to 5 ms.
-I've used all three display options with great results: HDMI, DVI, VGA.
-I've owned and used other types of monitors like Samsung and HP, and have a Samsung LCD TV which I've used as a monitor as well, and I really like the Acers better. They are also a much better value.

I definitely recommend any of their monitors (or products for that matter - I had an Acer desktop in the past that served me well).

I have no complaint about the "picture quality" of this monitor. My complaint is that, (A) like most electronic equipment, the instructions are long on telling stuff that any idiot should know (how to set it up, don't sit near heat, etc) and short on showing photos of what cable goes where (the names for the cables mean nothing, since none of them are labeled and I am not cable-savvy as far as what all of them do) but still, I managed to set it up. My (B) complaint is the important one. This thing has the lousiest speakers I have EVER encountered on any computer monitor. Yes, the specs for them were listed, but, not being a speaker expert, the specs didn't tell me that it wouldn't have much sound. I wouldn't even have that much problem with the quality of the sound... if you could hear it. I have it turned as high as it will go and you can talk over it pretty easily. and forget listening to music or video on it. You can barely hear them. All that said, it's still a good buy for the price, if you don't need high volume sound, and since I actually bought it for the place where I work, I don't listen to anything on it much. But, if you need some higher sound, this is NOT the monitor you want. Spend a little more and get better speakers.

I bought this monitor to hook up to a Dell desktop that I have ordered but don't have yet. My plan is to run two of these monitors but was a little short on money being a college student so I am waiting to get the second. I will be using these monitors for Cartography/GIS work and the large display and high screen resolution are going to be great for working with Orthophotos and maps. As mentioned by many others the sound quality is not the greatest but sound is not issue for me because I have always hooked my computer up to a stereo anyway. The colors are crisp, the price is cheap, and the screen is huge. My only problem I have had with this monitor so far is trying to hook it up with HDMI to my girlfriends Dell Inspiron 1525 Laptop. The video works perfectly on the monitor but I can't get any sound through the speakers on the monitor. After some research online there seems to be some problem with the Dell Inspiron 1525 laptops and not even having the option to output sound through HDMI. That is easily worked around by hooking it up either VGA or DVI and using the supplied audio cable. I am now using it on my Lenovo laptop and am loving it. Hopefully I will have enough room on my desk for two of these

So far like all Acer products I have and have used this one is great, I bought this Monitor to replace an old Westing House that had Major Pixil failure I was using with my Xbox 360 using VGA. This monitor Has SVGA/DVI/HDMI/ I am now running the monitor Hooked up as a Dual Monitor (PC-DVI), (360 SVGA), and PS3 (HDMI) the monitor lets you select input just like a TV! The built in Speakers are so/so, as I have my Systems Hooked up to my PC 5.1 speakers. (no Sound out form monitor just in). The Picture looks great no issues no shadowing. Price was right. After teh Price Differance and reviews of the Acer 24" Monitors I am very happy I picked up the 23". DVD's and games look great coming from the 360, and Blurays / Games from the PS3 = WOW! Thinking about picking up a 2nd to replace my Primary display for the PC :)

I hope this helps, as I'm not a good writer/reviewer.
