Reseña del editor

For 400 years he was lost to her, but he is hers tonight... From their first tantalizing touch, Jasmine knows he is different. What other lover could unlock her tight control, flood Vampire senses jaded by a lifetime of decadent self-indulgence? Centuries ago, when he disappeared without a trace, she had given up hope of ever fulfilling the promise of incomparable passion. But here he is, against the very laws of nature, ready to bring down their most vicious enemy, ready to bring her blood to the boiling point...if she will only let him.

2.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas The Ladies made me finish it... 3 de octubre de 2012

Right upfront, let me admit that I've put off writing this review for months. I didn't want my initial reaction to color my entire opinion. (I'm not sure I've waited long enough.) And quite honestly, my initial reaction included reading the first couple of chapters and then tossing the book aside - ok, more like against the wall with force. I was just plain angry. It was days before I could pick it up again. I actually had to be convinced and coerced to continue reading this book. (You Ladies know who you are.) I'm still trying to decide if I'm glad I did, but I'm leaning toward not.

I won't give a full synopsis since so many others already have. Instead, I'll say that Ms. Frank's book Adam was really quite brilliant in arranging and following a timeline that jumps from past to present flawlessly. Adam's disappearance so long ago is explained, yet not brushed over and easily forgiven. Different reactions to his reappearance after so long are refreshingly real. That's the plus side of this book to me. And the only thing that I really could appreciate. I was too busy stewing to enjoy the storyline.

!!! SPOILER ALERT!!!!

My personal issue with this book... When I finish reading a romance, I am secure with the knowledge of a happily-ever-after for the couple that I invested my time in. I personally need that HEA; it's a prerequisite for any romance that I pick up. In my mind, and far past the end of the book, that couple is very much alive and well and living out their future together. So, when an author reintroduces that couple in a future book, and savages their lives in a very brutal way, that author has now shaken my faith in that couples HEA. To put it mildly, I was ticked. Yes, it may have all worked out in the end, but Ms. Frank still ripped off my rose-colored glasses. And while I usually like her stories, I know I'll hesitate on picking up a series book by her again. And that ticks me off, too.

Jacquelyn Frank has a knack for writing a great prologue. Just after a few pages into Adam we come across the death of a beloved character in the series, and yes I was in shocked and I almost yelled "what the heck is going on". Don't let this shocking development fool you, keep reading my friend keep reading.

Adam is book # 5 of the Nightwalkers Series by Jacquelyn Frank. This is the story of Jasmine and Adam. Adam was one of the most anticipated books of the Nightwalkers Series, Yes we loved and enjoyed Noah but it is Adam that has created a commotion throughout the web. As a Jacquelyn Frank's fan I am happy to say this is a hot, exciting, and kickass story. As every other story of the Nightwalkers series this story has tons action, it also has its share of evil, sex and love.

We got to know Jasmine in Noah's book. We learned about her hatred for Syreene, Damien's mate, but we also know her as a strong character filled with regrets and desires. What do we know about Adam? We know Adam disappeared 400 years ago and was never seen again. We also know he is Jacob's brother, the enforcer capable of maintaining order and the one person Jacob looked up to for guidance.

Though I loved Adam, I felt there was a lack of development in the story, Adam and Jasmine interaction is minimal compared to the other books in the series. I felt their story and interaction was rushed. The reading went fast, the action is non-stop, but the character development is lacking a bit. I am hoping there is a lot more to this series, the book left me with tons of questions and pretty much in a "HUH" kind of state.

Adam is sexy and the chemistry between him and Jasmine is great. They are strong, smart and downright kickass heroes in their own sexy and hot kind of way. Their combination is dangerous yet funny. Jacquelyn is still the same witty, talented and funny author that we all love.

I am already waiting for more...

... a book in the romance genre that handles time travel intelligently! I really liked this author's treatment of the issue, rather than having people jump back and forth from one century to another like they were time zones or something. (Come to think of it, time zones aren't particularly easy to travel across either!). I'll refrain from naming names, but there was this one pair of books with brothers (from the future) arrive not together but one after another into the past to marry sisters and then get this one live in the future and the other in the past but they visit each other for vacations!!!!

In contrast, here even Time-element demon doesn't zip about willy nilly but fully understands the seriousness of what she's doing. As for the rest of the book, I like it. I'd been disappointed in Noah - for one I wanted him to have a Mistral or other Nightwalker romance instead of a human and for another the Ruth issue was left hanging. Adam brought a closure to this cycle and though there are still unknowns (Seth the "star child" and his powers sparked my curiosity) that's how I believe it should be.

I've waited for what seems like forever for the latest installment to the Nightwalkers series. I was quite happy to see this when it came out and then thought, WHO is Adam?

Adam came out of nowhere. A thought to be new character, when in fact he's part of Jacob's past. Sweet!

I enjoyed the book of course. And I absolutely fell head over heels for Adam. Holy yummy alpha male. Ms Frank writes excellent male characters of all types, but her big, muscle bound alpha males are my favorite. Adam is such a freaking brute, and yet, he's a big softie on the inside.

The first part of this book had me so upset at the events that had occurred. The characters from all the past books were all in turmoil. It was heart wrenching. Then came Adam, and everything changed.

And let's not forget Jasmine. The forever alone, strong willed and powerful Vampire. She is sexy, sassy and an extreme bad ass. Perfect match for Adam.

I enjoyed their story. I enjoyed watching them fan the flames of their attraction and then try and douse them a moment later. Their witty banter was very entertaining.

Will there be another addition to the series? Let's hope so.

4.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Jasmine gets her story! 7 de noviembre de 2011

The first part of the book, I was just about in tears and ready to put it down without finish reading it. But I continued, hoping that the sad part happening in the story was for a reason and would come to light further on. I'm glad I didn't put the book down! It was a very good read. Although I felt Adam and Jasmine didn't get that deep connection needed with imprinted mates. Almost as if the story went too fast or hurried to establish the emotional bond the readers needed to feel with the couple. I'm not even sure if Adam was ever mentioned in the past novels, I will have to brush up on them to find out. But that did not take away from the story. I don't feel there was enough of bonding between Adam and his brothers. He and Jacob spent no time together and at the end of the story, Jacob said "Adam I want you to meet your brother Kane" -- THE END. All in all it's worth the money and it's another great story by Jacquelyn Frank.
