Nota de la solapa
r-old Allison Atwood is traveling to visit her mother in Alaska when her plane crashes near the Arctic Circle. The pilot is killed and Allison is alone in a wilderness of ice and snow. Thankfully she's rescued by an I-upiat trapper who takes her to his village. Here she is the "ice worm," the outsider, far removed from her life in Southern California. But as time passes, the villagers change Allison's life, and she changes theirs as well.

Allison, a 14 year old girl, tries to go to Alaska to see her mom. On the way a lot happens. Her pilot dies when their plane crashes. She is stranded until an Indian rescues her and takes her to his village where she learns to survive.
In the village she meets a boy named Matu. He is 13 years olds and she convinces him to take her to the coast. So they saddle the dogs up and head out.
When they make a stop at another village, Allison meets a girl named Oolik who can't hear or speak. She meets a woman name Siki who has a baby. When disaster falls upon the village, Oolik and Allison wake everyone up to help. To find out what happens next you must read the book.
I really liked this book because, Allison realizes that you don't need personal items like nail polish and all that to survive. Oolik and Siki's village teaches her the true meaning of life.
