4.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Nice pair of headphones. 5 de septiembre de 2011

Overall they are a decent pair of headphones, especially for the price (I paid $30). The mid range is a bit too high, bass is accurate, and the treble is really clear. When I turn them up real loud the bass does not clip (distort) at high volumes. Messing around with an equalizer you can get a really great sound for listening to music, otherwise they would sound too muddy. They can get a bit uncomfortable over long use. They cover over my ear fine, but if you have big ears I can see them not fitting well. I use them for home recording drums, bass, guitar, it serves it's purpose well. It cancels noise pretty well also, not great, but good. It comes with a nice bag, the headphones fold up and fit into the bag so you can take them around.

3.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas An excellent value for professional headphones. 17 de enero de 2011

The HP550s have great sound quality and a lot of power, and at a good price. I noticed an instant improvement in my mixdowns (I produce hardstyle and hardtrance). One problem for me is that my ears are slightly too big for them, but, then again, I have big ears. The other issue is their isolation. They block out almost all sound, but occasionally you do hear something come through. I would recommend these for anyone on a budget, but if you want pure quality, spend the extra $100 for pioneer hdj-1000s.

4.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Great headphones for the price 27 de noviembre de 2012

-More than decent sound quality
-Coiled, medium length cable
-Tons of accessories

-Slightly uncomfortable during long sessions
-Plastic construction (durable to some degree)
-Little to no seal around the ears.

No complaints here. For $15, you can't go wrong with these headphones. American Audio was generous enough to include various accessories including a carrying pouch, and 2 quarter inch adapters. These headphones sound very decent; but are a bit hard to drive (64 ohms). The sound signature is V shaped, with very accentuated bass and high treble, as with most "dj" labeled headphones. I feel that the mids are a bit muddy.
The build quality is quite good for the price, with plastic material that feel durable enough for everyday use. However, it is a bit stiff feeling at the joints. The ear-cups get sweaty and uncomfortable over time, as expected with the material used. The earcups don't give much seal on the ears (at least for me). This is an important factor that causes it to lose some isolation.

Overall, these headphones are great temporary pair that gets the job done.

4.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Great Deal if you got them through Amazons Black Friday Sale 3 de diciembre de 2012

I typically don't ever review an item after I purchase it(unless it was of poor quality; and I only do that to alert others) but in this case I wanted to offer some praise for this set of headphones. I picked them up for $14 shipped because amazon had them running as a black friday special. They sold out in a few seconds but I got lucky. I got them for work because I didn't want to expose my pricey set of Bose headphones to the sometimes dusty/dirty enviroment I work in. For $14 brand new you absolutely can not beat them. I paid more than that for a set of skull candy ear buds a while back. I'm not musically talented so I can't accurately comment on aspects such as treble, bass, ect, but they do not distort at high volume and if a song with bass comes on they bump nicely. For a cheap set of headphones that you don't have to worry about messing up, but yet still sound good, I highly recommend these. Mine also came with a carrying bag, a 90 degree 1/4" adapter jack, and a straight 1/4" adapter jack. With out the adapter jacks they plug into any MP3 player, Iphone, ipod, ect, jack.

4.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas I think they are pretty good for the price. 24 de diciembre de 2011

I own the American audio HP-700, the HP-550 Lava American Audio Hp 550 Red Foldable Professional Headphones

The HP-700 are better on isolating the outside noise, I even swap the earpads from the HP-700 to the HP-550 and seem no to improve outside noise cancelling.

By the time I purchase this, 2 people I work with purchase different sets of headphones: One purchased the Beats Studio and the other one bought a pair of Audio Technica headphones, both over $150.

I had the chance to compare them with the same audio source and device. Definitively, the HP-550 were not as clear (treble) as the Beats Studio, but I think there were right there with the Audio Technica.

However, the Beats and the Audio Technica use battery to reinforce bass and noise cancelling, so on that alone I give a +1 to the American Audio.

I have not wear them enough to check for durability but seem to be pretty sturdy the American Audios.

I fully recommend these, if you like to go with an more expensive set of headphone is ok, but if you are on a budget these are a good buy.
