The MHz on this monitor make it realy clear and easy to hear on. The monitor for the bedroom is small and unobstrusive, and the receiver is small easy to carry around and the battery lasts FOREVER. We have had it for almost 20 months now and with daily use off the charger for naps and at bedtime it has never completely died. We accidently left it off the charger one night on and it was still working the next morning. The temperature indicator has been really helpful since our home is two stories, the upstairs tends to get hotter than the downstairs so we can try to keep it cool in her room in the summer.
The screen is a little weird, where at certain angles it looks like all the lights on the inside are on, but I bought it to hear stuff not look at the screen constantly. If you pick it up and look right at it, it's clear what settings are on, what the indicator says, and what the volume level is. Our daughter tends to pick up the receiver and play with it if we leave it out between naps and bedtime, and has chewed on it, dropped it on the floor, and anything else a toddler can do to something she treats as a toy. For a little while after she had played with it once the screen indicators were a little off, but they seemed to have fixed themselves after a couple weeks.
Would highly recommend this.
I've had a few small issues with the monitor, which have been adding up and now I'm taking off one star. One is that the halo night light button makes a VERY loud and sharp click sound when you press it to turn the light on or off, and it wakes the baby up. So that feature is useless to me, even though it would've been very convenient to have it. Also, less than a year after I bought the unit, the display stopped working. The little lights that illuminate the parts of the display started dying one by one. At first just parts of the number showing the temperature went black, but you could sort of still make out the number. Then there was no number at all. Then no more audio levels or anything else, so the display became useless. I loved the temperature display feature, because it allowed me to regulate the temperature in her room from the thermostat downstairs without going in to check a thermometer in the bedroom (our central air is wonky and it can quickly get either too cold or too hot in individual rooms). The last annoying thing is that while the parent unit is charging (which I do at night), there's no way to turn the display off but keep the unit itself on, it's always lit. It's very bright and casts too much light in our bedroom, and being that it sits right by my head, it's too bright for me to sleep. I tried taping over it, but I want to be able to see the monitor before I go to bed, and removing and replacing sticky tape every day was too much of a hassle. Even a dimming feature would've been enough, but as it is, it's too bright at night. I ended up knitting it a little hat… so now it wears a hat at night :-)
Overall, this is an excellent monitor that I would highly recommend. The cons are pretty minor. It served us well for a year and a half, and only now it's starting to actually degrade in quality. It recently started emitting strange staticky noises and waking me up at night, even when there's nothing going on in the baby's room. I'm considering getting another unit of this model though - that's how much I still like it.
As a side note: When we bought the second one, we tried to get one monitor to be able to toggle back and forth between the two monitors in kids rooms- you can't do that. While you have "Channel" stations for each, the remote doesn't pick up both channels adequately, so we just ended up carrying both monitors around.
