After two full days of use, they packed away neatly, and I hope use them again soon. The claws never bent and the only thing we noticed was that the teeth had some slight rust where the paint rubbed off. I 100% recommend these for any backpacker that might need them for a glacial trek.
After I reached the canyon rim, the spikes were bent at 45 degree angle forward and rearward, but they still gripped ice well. If you are only walking on ice and snow, they will not bend. If you also walk on rocks and logs along the trail as I did, then they are still a very safe bet for the money, even if only used once. On a serious glacier hike up ice walls, get a full foot cleat. The rocks and logs on the trail were just too much for these crampons, but even after the spikes bent on the large exposed rocks, they still prevented anyone in our group of five backpackers from slipping even once. But for the price, they are very good crampons. They are a good value as compared to the $65 full footbed crampons.
