Styling product? No.
Per the recommendation of a friend, I purchased this product with the intention of using it as a styling product for the days when I make my hair wavy with a flat iron or curling iron. I was disappointed because:
1. it takes a ton of this product if you are using it as a styling product. I went through a can after making my hair wavy only four times.
2. There was white powder everywhere in my bathroom and my cabinets and mirror are black painted wood and it was very messy.
3. This is not a good product to use a styling product. It really didn't do that much other than add some texture but it took so much product that it wasn't really worth it.
THAT BEING SAID....
Dry Shampoo? Yes!
I grew to like this product quite a bit but for a different purpose than what I purchased it for. I was surprised to discover that this product actually works nicely for its intended advertised purpose of being a dry shampoo. I have very fine and thinning dark hair. It basically looks bad after one day...sometimes before the end of day one. It grabs grease and looks flat and my thinning spots become very obvious. As a busy single mom, I don't really have time to wash and style my hair every day and I end up putting my hair in a pony tail and putting on a hat which just makes my hairloss even worse. What I discovered with this product is that I can now wash and blow out my hair really good on day one and then use this product on day two and even day three sometimes if it is a weekend and not have to put my hair in a pony tail or under a hat to hide.
Regarding the white powder it leaves on your hair:
I have dark brown hair and it is very obvious when I spray this on my hair. However, you can brush it into your hair and it goes away. I mainly concentrate the spray at my roots anyway where it is easier to use my hands to rub it into my hair and scalp. Sometimes I need to spray the sides a little just in front just above my ears and that tends to be harder to get the powder to rub into my hair with fingers so I brush those areas and it goes away. Also, you can spray it directly into your brush and then brush your hair with it. However, I do not recommend doing this with the same brush that you style your hair with while blowdrying it.
It smells very powdery and a little old lady like. Ultimately I will probably end up shopping for another brand that smells better and doesn't cost a fortune, but so far this product is quite a bit less expensive than the others I have seen and that is more important to me at this point in my life than the smell.
