I have issues with lateral left to right support in both ankles. Running strait ahead is no problem at slower speeds. but at full sprint running speed and left to right movement it feels really unstable and I have no confidence in my ankle.

This brace was designed to replace ankle tapping which takes time, messy and uncomfortable, but provides good support.

With this brace, its basically a slip on sleeve that stretches up and down to allow you to get it on easily but has almost no stretch left and right for ankle support. Plus it has the lateral support strap to wrap up your ankle from loose to locked down depending on support you want. When I strap it down tight, it is still really comfortable and I can run at full speed and go left and right without worrying as it holds in place and does not let it move out of alignment.

Yeah, there expensive, but if you have old or new ankle injuries and want to still be athletic and active, you cant really put a price on it. worth every penny.

I originally ordered the white with blue without really looking at them, the strap is white and I believe will stain with sweat and these are not machine washable. So I exchanged them for the black and blue set with black strap. These dry by just hanging on hanger. I usually wash once a week. The material does not even smell, but i know their dirty.

Added to review 06/03/2013:

If you have dogs or cats, the black material shows gets animal hair all over them, so if you have animals in home, you might want to get the white version. The white strap does not get stained by sweat.

The sizing of these is to measure leg bone just above ankle and select size in the size range:
Size Ankle Circumference in inches
1 63/4" - 71/2"
2 71/2" - 81/4"
3 81/4" - 9"
4 9" - 97/8"
5 97/8" - 105/8"
6 105/8" - 113/8"

5.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas that worked fine. But as my ankle healed 10 de febrero de 2016

I bought this ankle brace after suffering a severe ankle sprain from playing basketball. My sprain was diagnosed with torned tendons and ligaments and that meant a long recovery, 6-8 months. During this period, I tried traditional braces at the beginning to immobilize the ankle, that worked fine. But as my ankle healed, I needed a more flexible brace. I tried some soft braces available at the stores, but they didn't work well. My ankle did not feel like it had the proper support.

With the Malleo Train, I saw that there were so many positive reviews, I gave it a try. The first day I put it on, I felt great. The next day, I was a bit sore, I continued to use it and after a week of using this ankle brace, my ankle feel much better. When I have it on, it is so thin that I can put a pair of socks over it and still put on my regular running shoes. It is so comfortable that I can leave it on for the whole day and sleep with it. I will definitely recommend this product for people going through ankle rehab.

5.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Perfect for my use during and after foot/ankle injury healing and recovery. 21 de marzo de 2016

My fourth Bauerfeind product [two knee supports, support socks, and this ankle support] and all fit me perfectly and perform well aiding in my injury recovery and also with support use. In particular the ankle wraparound strap with velcro attachment allows me to apply correct tension to my arch as needed, and if I need to adjust the tension I can adjust easily. The thinness of the MalleoTrain allows me to wear it under a lightweight Thorlo sock, and on my other foot wear a thicker Thorlo Hiker sock, and then my usual inov-8 Roclite 282GTX fit perfectly and with no noticeable change in my walking ability or gait.

Highly recommended if used along with a physicians advice, if you are using this product as a do-it-yourself remedy I advise caution.

Konrad.

4.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Much better than even the Dr's recommended brace 18 de mayo de 2014

I purchased this after doing my due diligence the result of many miles on the trail this year. After rolling my ankles from my Solomon Trail runners (I've subsequently returned those) I wanted more support since I knew that I was stretching the ligaments and would need some support for those times where I would suffer a sprain. This support which not the cheapest one around is the easiest to put on and very stable. Unlike other braces this offers some compression to keep the swelling down should you encounter an injury the way I did recently. While doing a very arduous hike in April I was talking to a buddy and turned to say something and while putting my left foot down I rolled my ankle as the rock I was on came loose and my whole body collapsed on that left ankle. Not good. I broke the very bottom of my left fibula and the ortho prescribed a lace up ankle support and wasn't familiar with this one. I tried his but it was not nearly as comfortable or easy to put on. I started hiking again after my follow up visit and use this while my ankle heals and so far it's helped a lot with keeping my on the trail while I recover.

Make sure you measure and nt just wing it, had to send one back. So now that I received this right one, I can review. Fit is snug not supper tight. Wrap with velcro is sturdy. Took it for a quick 2 mile jog and it does not feel excessively bulky and I think it helps. I have Paroneal Tendonitis and it helps with making ankle feel a bit more sturdy while I heal from a injury. I don't see using this at every activity but great to have on hand for when I do over do it and need the support to heal and keep active. I do think it's expensive but I liked the fact that it wasn't bulky as others.
