I found this to be very useful and unlike most self-help books it was actually helpful.

Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT) is basically a form of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy
and has quite a lot of evidence attesting to its efficacy.

Essentially this book shows you how to deal with emotional problems and then how to actually change your behaviour and thinking.

It is very practical and a step by step approach is provided in this book, though you don't have to follow it rigidly.

It does require quite a lot of work and the book can be a bit dry at times.
There is some repetition but this did serve a purpose as it helped to reinforce the concepts and methods of REBT.
However the approach does make sense and you are not asked to take everything on trust but to actively deal with any doubts that you may have.
.The author does have another book "Reason to Change" that covers a lot of similar ground but is this book is quite a lot cheaper.

It has been around a few months since I have purchased this and I have found it to be immensely useful. Most other self-help books seem to give me a little bit of positivity but then are quickly forgotten. But I am still using REBT and it has greatly lessened my procrastination and shyness as well as reduced some of my other problems.

It is not miraculous but I have found it to be genuinely helpful.
