5.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Creates the same tone of the Maxon OD-808, with lots of headroom to spare 30 de enero de 2014

I already owned a Maxon OD 808 and an Ibanez TS-9, but I bought the Biyang Mad Driver and Joyo Vintage Overdrive for the fun of it. $45. Why not? This pedal duplicates the tone of the Maxon OD 808 straight up with the Biyang's drive near nine o'clock, the tone at one and the volume at twelve. The main difference is that the Mad Driver compresses a little more, and has a slightly fuller bottom, but neither are bad attributes. While the Maxon OD-808's harmonic pick up is rich, the Mad Drive's is even richer, maybe because the added compression helps to bring them up and out.

The Biyang's three way switch makes only a subtle difference in the pick attack, it doesn't change the break up characteristics or seemingly much else. Normal more most closely resembles the OD-808, bright mode makes the pick attack more prominent and present, while warm mode dulls attack dynamics and makes the guitar sound a bit more muted and distant.

If you're deciding between this and the Joyo, go with the Biyang, times ten. The Joyo is worth buying also because it's respectable in it's own right, but heading more towards the the TS-9, and is not nearly as close to the Maxon OD-808.

The battery compartment also has a nice thumb screw lid, and the "on" LED is very big and very bright. I could see it blinding a guitarist in a dark gig who looks down at their pedal board. Trivial, but Biyang also got the yellowish green paint color more on the money than Joyo's Vintage Overdrive, with it's more emerald colored paint.

Ok plugged my Tele with bigsby in and it sounds amazing. Theres a switch that goes normal, bright and warm. Warm is perfect for those who might use it as a rhythm crunch tone. The normal is a good place to start to learn how the controls interact. Its a got a good even response. The bright is the best part. Its such a boost to the upper frequencies that a low gain and high volume setting (tone just above or below half way depending on taste) that it's the ideal clean boost in this setting. I highly recommend this and I'm a huge gear and pedal guy.

May I use this moment to list a few I have just to establish credentials? 2 Ross Orange Phasers (78 and 79) 1989 Boss BF2 Flanger (Japanese version) and 1991 USA BF2 as Maxon OD808 ProCo Rat II and others. I've spent hundreds on pedals and pennies on cheap ones I thought might be cool. I have the Biyang Baby Boom compressor pedal and I love it.

Try one, they sound great. I gave it 4 stars because I have yet to feel out how long the battery lasts and I doubt it lasts more than maybe 6-8 hours.
