One thing I need to add here, in the product description it states: "...includes wrench to tighten regulator." Well, that's not true. There was no wrench but neither did I see the need for one. Everything came assembled. All I had to do was attach the hose to the propane tank using the built in adapter knob on the fitting.
I had to constantly watch for the flame inside the venturi, and shut off the gas at the tank. This happened over and over and over again during the cook time for the chicken.
Once the flame in the venturi was out, I could turn on the gas and re-light.
The same for the shepherd’s pie I made a few days later.
I brought my concerns to Camp Chef. They supplied me with a replacement burner assembly. I noted a few casting differences from my old one. This issue is now resolved and has not occurred again. I am now a happy Camp Chef customer again.
I have used Camp Chief products for years. This little single burner stove is in addition to my “Camp Chef Big Gas 3 Sports Grill”. I have never had this same issue with that stove, and have cooked many, many Dutch oven meals on it.
This was the first use of the stove, full propane tank, no blockages of the hose, venturi or burner ring.
I inspected the stove carefully before use, and it was right out of the shipping box.
The venturi area is NOT designed to have a flame, and if allowed to burn there, could melt the rubber propane hose. I think this is a very serious problem / defect that could result in property damage or personal injury.
I am very disappointed in this product from Camp Chef.
Big Con: While the burner still worked, the wind does play a big factor on this unit. During a couple of the gusts of wind, the flame would back track and light the propane in the air/gas mix area while it was on the lowest setting. Just something to be aware of.
