I gave the book to my step brother's family in Sweden. His children are 4, 7 & 9 and they don't speak english. I thought it would be the perfect gift -food is such an international language. They loved looking through the book and figuring out what the different things were (broccoli trees, covered wagons made out of a bread loaf etc). It was a hit.
I also gave the book to my niece and nephew, 4 & 7 years old, for Christmas. They too loved it, especially the 7 year old boy who sat there staring at the pages (even amongst all of the other toy gifts).
The nice thing is that adults love the book as well and they can read and tell their children how the landscape was made and about the photography.
Lovely book. Now I just need to buy one for myself!
One of the guys at my office liked it so much that I wrapped the book and gave it to him to keep as a Christmas gift. He's an amateur photographer and his wife loves to bake, so he let me know that both he and his wife thoroughly enjoy the book and have it out on their coffee table along with other art books. I'll just have to (gladly) order a second copy for myself.
I was searching for more titles like this one and found Warner's Food Landscapes. While this book may not be per se a children's book, my son still found it interesting when we discussed how the different images were put together.
This is a really neat book from the many images presented and the how it was done section.
