4.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Works well with a small tweak! 2 de agosto de 2011

I've read a lot of negative reviews about this slot car track, and I felt the same way when we first set it up and started playing. The cars wouldn't stay on the track AT ALL. It was very frustrating for my kids, ages 9 and 5, and myself. However, I was able to easily fix the problem and now it works great! All you need to do is take a pair of pliers and pull the guide stick out a little more on each car. The guide stick is a tiny piece of black plastic on the underside of the car in between all of the metal contacts. If you accidentally pull it out all the way, it can easily be inserted again. After making this adjustment, keep an eye on the cars though, because sometimes (not very often), the guide stick will fall out. Just re-attach it and you're good to go! I am now able to keep the cars on the track about 95% of the time. Good luck!

My son got this as a gift last night, picked it out at Toys R Us because he loves all the Mario Toys. We paid $40.00, brought it home, set it up. During the Setup I could tell just how cheap the plastic pieces were, it barley stays up or together, the cars do not work, they don't stay on the track. This is by far a huge rip off at 40 dollars, I would not pay more than $5 for this. I agree with the other 2 reviews, they company should be ashamed to put their name on this piece of junk and Toys R Us should be embarrassed to sell in their stores. It is going back today.

Do not buy - if you get this item as gift promptly return it to the store and get something that actually works. Unbelievably bad - they should be ashamed of themselves for even making/selling this garbage. Does not stay on track at all. Disgusted!!!!!!!!!

3.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Cars are too wide for track!!! 6 de marzo de 2012
Por Kevin - Publicado en
I have had HO (1:87) scale slot cars for my entire life. My son wanted this 1:43 scale set for Christmas, so I figured we could try it. I don't find the cars hard to control, and my son who is 6 and his sister who is 4 can do okay, but these cars have problems.

It is apparent that the desire to get cartoonish proportions on the cars outweighed the desire to have cars that function. One of the biggest problems is that the cars are too wide to run side-by-side in corners. I'm not talking about the tail end of the car hanging out because you're going fast -- the cars are physically too wide to fit beside each other in a corner, regardless of whether or not they're moving. The rear of the outboard car will hang into the inboard lane, and any way you run them, their tires will get tangled up, and one or both cars will launch off the track. Beyond that, the outboard car in corners will snag on the posts that support the guard rails, so you're better off not installing the guard rails, and if you try to run Mario's car on the inboard lane going into the loop, the rear tire will snag on the back edge of the downhill side of the loop.

My other gripe on the cars is the lousy electrical pick-up "brushes". I'm used to spring-loaded, rigid contacts that ride on the rails. These cars have some junky braided metal, rope-like appendages hanging down onto the rails. They require constant adjustment, and there is a fine line between having them too high so there is inadequate electrical contact and having them too low so they lift the guide pin up out of the slot on the track. This is probably why some people are suggesting that you need to pull the guide pin out slightly so it stays in the slot better. These brushes will also find every piece of hair or dust within 20 feet of the track, so they require constant cleaning along with the constant adjustment.

The only faults I can give the track itself are that the support columns don't lock into the bottom of the track very well, and the cardboard guard rails are a joke.

I would give this track 4 stars and give the cars 1 star if I could rate them separately. I'm going to buy some Disney Cars or regular 1:43 scale slot cars to see if they fit and function any better.

1.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Poorly Executed, Not for Beginners. 20 de septiembre de 2011

This product is aimed at the entry level, and it's disappointing.

The cars do not stay on the track consistently at even the slowest of speeds and the most basic of track layouts. Doing a simple 'sighting lap' is near impossible.

The instructions are badly laid out, and the support on the company web site is non-existant for anyone other than an experienced hobbyist.

This is a perfect example of a high-end hobby company making a product for the entry level and not committing to it fully.
