Station has three spots for trains to park. The spots only hold the main engine, not any additional carts linked to them. Trains make sleeping noises when they're parked face-in. There is a "lazy Susan" style track piece to get trains from their station spots onto the main track.
Fuel depot has three types of energy resources to choose from plus a handle to "fill up". Each resource causes the handle to make a different sound when pressed.
Loading dock comes with six different resources and three spots to place them. Each item makes a different sound when either placed on the dock or lifted from it. You can move the crane (up, down, around) and put items in is mouth. It makes sounds like a working crane when it's moved.
Each interactive part also seems to have a light. Trains can link to additional carts to carry items. Each interactive part requires batteries, has off/on and sometimes "Try Me" switch options. There is no volume control. Most parts are a moderate volume but the main station seems a bit loud (may wake a light sleeper). Some pieces are big and heavy. It's not the type of train set I'd want to rebuild often. We keep ours on a train table (it doesn't fit in our train table drawers).
Track: We had trouble putting it together at first. The spiral incline kept coming apart. Finally, my husband was able to get it to stay put with normal (not rough) play. Also, the track pieces click together and are not as easy to change as say, wooden Brio tracks. I have not found another way to putting together all of the pieces besides as shown in the photo. I would probably recommend buying more track pieces if you like to build and rebuild new tracks. However, be warned that there are multiple types of Chuggington tracks and not all have these type of links.
Overall: We've had guests of all ages play with this train set and comment on how cool it is. Various kids through age four and parents have enjoyed playing with this set. It's entertaining enough for days of regular play.
