5.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas One of Johnny Pacheco's greatest singers! 12 de junio de 2003

Hector Casanova replaced Pete "El Conde" Rodriguez as Johnny Pacheco's primary lead singer in 1975. This was his solo debut album and features superb production from Pacheco and wonderful vocals and improvisation(inspiraciones)from this master sonero. "Tumba Brava", "Me Quedo Con...", "Que Le Den Vitaminas" and "Marcelina" are all excellent examples of what a REAL salsa sonero is and should sound like. If you love the classic Cuban soneros of yesteryear, buy this CD immediately.

This album was sort of a dissapointment for me. I found many of the album's tracks to be just average at best. "Que le den vitminas" is a good (not great) song. "Espera Turno" is a rather enjoyable bolero/guracha very Cuban-isque. "La Cosita" ruins the albums for me (as does any merengue in my case). The best song is unarguably "El Montunero" and "Tumba Brava" has it's moments. Overall the album is not a must-have, unless you're a die-hard collector like me, you're not missing out on anything special. It's a true shame because Hector Casanova is a great singer and I usually enjoy most songs with Pacheco on chorus.
