Descripción del producto
Illustrated in colour throughout, the book s stunning brownie photography is complemented by pictures of several natural insects, which prove helpful in showing what certain features of the artificial versions are getting at. Catching Shadows is extremely thorough in analysing the way deadly patterns are put together and how they are fished to their best effect. As Thomas Ames notes in the book s introduction, Rich is writing not just for anglers who like to tie their own flies. He is writing for fly designers as well. Catching Shadows is something of a rarity in this day and age real value for money. --Jeffery Prest, Trout Fisherman magazine

From the first few pages, it is obvious that the author is the real deal – he has intimate knowledge of fly design, technique and fly presentation. Having spent a number of years fishing on the same pressured waters that Rich calls home, I understand the importance of these skills. I also respect the fact that Rich is one of that rare breed that has mastered the skills, but is also a skilled educator, and presents his knowledge in a clear, well-organized and well-written book.
I’ve fished many of Rich’s patterns not only in the Northeast, but also in Florida, Canada, Montana and Belize, and can attest to their fish-catching value. I’m certain that the patterns and techniques Rich presents in this book will serve the reader well, and complement and expand upon the information he includes on his website.
The backgrounds on each fly, the tying instructions and the quality of the pictures are clear and understandable. His streamers are great, but including nymphs and dries is great as well. But if you like tying streamers this should be a must own.
