Descripción del producto

Descripción del producto

The author shows how she, her coven, and her friends, have come to know the deities of ancient Egypt, and how these Gods and Goddesses have enriched their lives. Included are meditations and techniques to help the readers bring those deities into their own lives.

Also included are songs for the deities, rituals, information on hieroglyphs, two new forms of divination, names, incenses, oils, information and recipes for an ancient Egyptian feast, sources for statuary and other items, and even the best sites to visit on the World Wide Web. Instructions on the creation of a wand, nemyss, kilt, and sistrum are included.

This book does not pretend to recreate the religion of Ancient Egypt, but rather to bring knowledge and worship of its deities into modern Pagan practice. Readers will have the tools to continue learning and developing their own methods of honoring the Gods and Goddesses of Tamera, the Beloved Land of the ancient Egyptians.

I absolutely love this book from cover to cover! I have been searching for a specific path of paganism that fit my needs and beliefs and had not yet found it. I asked a friend of mine if he could recommend a book and he asked what deities I followed, which I honestly only had a vague idea and none named to me. I had always had a pull to ancient egypt, for as long as I could remember, and had various dreams about it. He suggested this book and from the moment I started reading it I felt a connection that I have never felt before. Each Lord and Lady resonated, each belief, each tradition. It spoke to me and I instantly began putting these aspects into my craft and already I feel renewed and so much more serene. I highly recommend this book to any who are searching, even if this path isn't for you, its an excellently written read. Ellen Cannon Reed incorporates Ancient Egyptian Gods and Goddesses into modern paganism. With tutorials on how to make a Tameran wand, divination techniques specific to these Lords and Ladies, how to meditate with Them and build a loving and personal relationship with Them, and rich information on SEVERAL of Them in relation to the story of Asar and Aset. My life is better for reading this book and I am now taking what I have learned and making it my own, which I encourage always. Brilliant. Blessed Be!

This is one of my favorite books for my personal Pagan path. I've ordered this book a few times since my copies get used often. This is Egyptian based, but it is based on their own personal experiences. When following their outlines or the suggested rituals etc in this book you may have a different experience and feel a different personality from the deity you are working with. I will add that when I showed a friend the recipe for the Honey Mead in here she said that it has to be strained very well or it could make someone sick. I haven't researched this for myself but wanted to make others aware of the possibility.

If you are looking to know more about the Egyptian pantheon and how to connect with them, this is a great book. I learned about deities that I never even knew existed and in that way this is an excellent resource. However, the point is made in the beginning that this is a book about Wiccan practice, so my expectation going in was that this book was going to explain to me how one would fit the Egyptian pantheon into say...the Wheel of the Year. But alas, while giving great detail on the deities, the actual structure part was sadly lacking. Other than some vague mentions of how her coven does things, there were no specifics, which was very disappointing (to say the least). The expectation was that being given the details on the deities, you would already know what to do with that info. Which still doesn't tell me how to fit the Egyptian pantheon into traditional Wiccan practice. :-(

Edit 1/2013 - what a difference a few years makes.

Still worth looking at, as far as getting to know the deities. But the answer to how to fit them into Wicca practice is - you don't. Kemeticism has it's own mythologies, calendars and practices, and (at least from a Traditional standpoint) Wicca is something entirely separate.

I enjoyed this book because it was a new voice from someone actually working with the Egyptian deities. Most books are academic in nature, describing how the author(s) believe the deities were worshipped in the past, and what attributes these beings were believed to have. Rarely do we hear from those who actually work with the deities and how they have come to know these deities. Not only do we hear about the deities from the perspective of one who worships them, but we also receive information on how to connect with these beings and a whole section of the book with prayers, chants and meditations to the deities discussed.

It was a little like sitting with a friend, and she's telling you about a really fascinating topic that you both have an interest in. I looked her up after reading this, only to discover she passed away. :(
