I own a pair of Shure headphones, and I don't really think you can go "wrong" with either these or the Shure tips. However, I would definitely purchase these first because:

-They are a little more comfortable in the ear
-They are easier to get a perfect seal with
-The wax-guard is fantastic (think... no more need to clean out the grossness deep inside of your canalphones)
-They will make your headphones sound better (mostly as a result of the previous three reasons)

Now, to answer the questions I myself have had at some point:

-The foam is a little different than the kind Shure uses. It seems to be a little firmer... until it is placed in the ear, where it feels softer and a little more comfortable. It's also slightly more resistant to wax in my experience, and is a quality product that can withstand daily use.

-They aren't tricky to apply. I was worried that the fit on the headphones themselves would be too tight or too loose (the former being annoying and the latter literally making the foams useless). I can only speak for SE Models, but the fit was perfect for me. The build is a tad different, as the foams feature a slightly thinner and flexible core tube... but this doesn't really change the ease of applying them in comparison to the Shures.

-For Shure owners: the "one size" of these roughly equates to the medium Shure size... they are themselves a tiny bit smaller than a medium Shure foam, but it is very close. I will say this... I wore the mediums AND larges for my Shures (mediums preferred), and the smalls wouldn't fit quite right... but these create the best seal by far that I have experienced with any IEM tip. If you are hesitant about the fit, go to the Comply website. They have three different sizes for all of their models.

-For non-Shure/non-foam users: soft foam is generally better than flex tips/silicone/hard foam, but it depends on your ears and your preferences. For most, it is the best blend of comfort and sound quality. The foam (if fitted correctly) is not painful on the ear at all after prolonged use and will not cause headaches. The fit is crucial in getting good sound, just like pretty much any other tip. If the build quality is good (like these), there is little to no change in frequency response in comparison to silicone.

-The sound quality with these is better than with other foams, and this is why- they are designed to give a better fit and keep wax out, allowing earphones to stream more pristine audio as a result. Earphones with these tips will sound more "open" and clear, and even the discerning ear will probably notice a wider soundstage with their current headphones.

-Sound isolation is close to most foams, but a little better (for me) because they seal so well. For users who want premier sound isolation, these will suit your needs very well.

-The 2dB of transmission loss with the wax guard is virtually a non-issue, especially since ear wax within the audio canal is much more detrimental to sound quality than anything else.

Overall, I do not hesitate to give these a five star rating. If you are interested in these or are even on the fence, I would stop reading this review right now, place them in my cart, and checkout. Happy listening!

3.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas These do an excellent job of isolating sound and are quite comfortable 15 de julio de 2016

These do an excellent job of isolating sound and are quite comfortable. I could spend hours with them in and not get irritated ears. That said, the "wax guard" was completely self-defeating. One of the primary selling points of the earbud tips was to reduce outside noise so the volume level of audio could be reduced. The wax guard actually muffled sound causing me to have to INCREASE the volume from what I was listening at before! Terrible implementation. I should have ordered the T-400 which comes with no wax guard, not the Tx-400. These also were challenging to put on earphones despite it explicitly stating compatibility. I had to use a tiny, tiny spot of vaseline on a q-tip or they would never go on straight. Finally, these were pricey. I was sort of forced to get the multi-pack since I didn't know what size I would need for my ears. Unfortunately the multipack is more expensive than the actual individual sizes (as of this review, $2.76 more than one-size packs), which punishes new buyers. I was hoping the value would be in the quality but holding them in my hand, I can tell these can't be worth $3+ a piece. I'll be looking for alternatives and at the very least at the T-400 in my size.

1.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Expensive, but does not last long 2 de diciembre de 2015

Fits nicely and comfortably in the ear, it does block out extraneous sound as advertised. But it does not last long at all - they start disintegrating within a week, finally tearing in two. I have gone through the entire stock of supplied tips and probably NEVER will get these again. I am back to using the old rubber ones which thankfully do not fall apart like these do.
5.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas I LOVE THESE! 19 de octubre de 2016

I have 4 pair of bluetooth earbuds. I have the jaybirds, and I have three others that cost about $12 each and I don't care if I lose them. These fit all of them. I bought the assorted pack and found the large were the best isolation. So here's my thoughts... I LOVE THESE THINGS!
1. I don't know about the quality issues people talk about. I still have the first ones I bought 6 months ago on my jaybirds and there's no foam failure yet
2. My ear canals are different and I've NEVER been able to get a pair of earbuds to stay in when I run. NOW THEY DO!
3. Cheap earbuds sound sucks. NOT WHEN IT"S COMPLETELY ISOLATED IN YOUR EAR! The $12 bluettoth sound great when you are blocking out ALL external noise and have a good seal. NOTE: You will not be able to hear anything but the earbuds, These completely block out all external noise. I run with them but I would never bike with them. But the sound is great!
4. They clean up nicely. I like to take a little warm water and a drop of dish soap and rinse them once in a while. They handle it well.

They're a little pricey but for me they're worth it.
1) They stay in my ears when I run
2) They've held up for 6 months
3) They make cheap earbuds sound good
4) They isolate perfectly so I can even wear them in the library.

Did I mention that I love these. :)

When I received the Jaybirds X2, the foam tips that came with product hurt my ears to wear them. I believe it was the substance of the tip that made wearing the bluetooth earphones uncomfortable. Worst of all, those foam tips would not keep the earphones in my ear. During a run, they would become loose and fall out. After purchasing these comply foam earphone tips, they enhanced the comfortableness, sound/bass, and stayed in my ears throughout the whole run!

To break it down by improvement, the foam tips provided resembled a sponge-like substance. These comply foam earphone tips were the real deal. They made it comfortable to wear and did not fall out during my run. The sound was also better with these comply foam earphone tips. I can't exactly explain why or how they did it, but the sound is more isolated/contained. As a result, the isolation caused me to hear less of the outside environment. Coincidentally, I was a running in a neighborhood and a fire truck had its siren on. I'm telling the truth when I say I could not hear the siren until I took one ear out. Lastly, I'm a sweaty dude, especially when I run in humidity. The foam tips provided by Jaybird would get gross and moist when a few drops came close to it. These comply foam tips were perfectly dry throughout my run. Maybe it was because of how snug it was in my ear, but I am more than happy with these. They not only made the Jaybirds X2 wearable, they made it fit and sound better. I would 100% recommend purchasing these with the Jaybirds X2.

P.S. Keep in mind that there are different sizes. I was fortunate enough that the small size fit perfectly in my ear.
