Reseña del editor

In 2016, the London Stereoscopic Company, under the direction of its proprietor Dr. Brian May, will publish its first book on fashion! In keeping with the magical and mysterious themes which characterize this highly original, and quality driven publishing list, our contribution to fashion literature is far from conventional. Crinoline: Fashion's Most Magnificent Disaster is about a fashion which died a natural death more than 100 years ago, and was itself responsible for the deaths of thousands - literally fashion victims! This beautifully packaged volume also comes in a slip cover and includes a 3-D viewer.

5.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas A history book that's fun to read! 2 de febrero de 2017

"A book about a classic women's fashion? Yawn." That's what I THOUGHT when this book was released, but I bought it anyway because I'd been impressed with the previous 3 stereoscopic books by Queen guitarist Brian May and French historian Denis Pellerin. I was pleasantly surprised to receive a book not only with photos and art that is incredible to look at (with the enclosed 3D viewer), but also with a written history of the caged hoop skirt trend that's comprehensive, intriguing, funny and sometimes downright bizarre.

Unlike the previous books, stereoscopic images aren't the main focus (though they're still plentiful), the motivating force seemed to be to tell the history of the iconic "Gone with the Wind" fashion trend that was featured extensively in 19th century works of art. We go from its rumored origins through manufacturing, to the international fashion trend with all of the humorous and sometimes nightmarish results for the women who wore them - and the men who surrounded them! It really is a fascinating story, punctuated with tons of beautiful artwork, and I'd highly recommend it even to folks (like myself) who have no real interest in fashion.

Great 3-D book by Brian May and Denis Pellerin. The latest book from the London Stereoscopic Company. The next best thing to having an original stereoview.

This is a very unique and interesting book. Even without the 3-d aspect it would be an good book to read.
