The board is meant for soft-tip(plastic-tip) darts. I haven't encountered any dead spots or errors in the calculations of the impact points. The darts stick to the board well but as with most soft-tip boards, the board can be somewhat picky about slightly bent tips. Best to exchange your tips as soon as they get somewhat bent to avoid bounce-offs.
I like how the board supports multiple players as well as a 1v1 robot. The robots are very odd in the way they throw darts. They get a lot of doubles and triples when playing 01 games. This is a bit disconcerting but the levels are fairly consistent. The top level of the robot is semi-professional to professional level while the lower levels scale down pretty well below that. If this is your first time playing darts, even the easiest robot will likely be a challenge.
It's quite loud if you play at home. Even the lowest sound setting is rather loud. Fortunately, you can just turn off the sound. Unfortunately, the impact of the darts on the board travels quite well. You will want to dampen the connection of the board to wall as best you can. Soft-tip boards are never quiet so no deduction of stars for that.
As for power, I've been running mine off of 4 AA batteries but plan to plug it in once I find a suitable extension cord. No problems with the display.
My biggest gripe with this board is the annoying "Game Menu" sticker. Yes, the sticker. It's upside down! What I mean is that the stupid thing shows the choices from top to bottom(G-1 at the top and G-17 at the bottom). The next button should be under the previous button with an arrow that points down, right? Nope, it's above the previous button pointing up! Pointlessly confusing at first but easily ignored after you learn the system.
Despite my one small gripe, it's a great board and worthy of purchase. Highly recommended!
