What this book is not is a course on photography. There are explanations for different concepts however it is not a complete guide to photography or even the broader concepts for taking photographs. The book helps you understand the camera and how certain features affect your shot but you have to experiment for yourself to get the results you want.
That being said, there is a section on creative shooting. I have not found this section to be super helpful for composing my shots but the knowledge on tweaking some settings have helped me change my approach. For photography composition tips and concepts, if that is what you are mainly looking for, I would suggest looking elsewhere.
Again, I definitely recommend this book to learn the camera well. It serves as a great reference if I ever have to look something up again for something I do not regularly use.
