This is the *Complete* Sixth Series featuring everything from where the Complete Fifth Series leaves off. It's not just Part 1:Doctor Who: Series Six, Part One [Blu-ray] & Part 2: Doctor Who: The Sixth Series - Part 2 [Blu-ray], but also the Christmas Special Doctor Who: A Christmas Carol [Blu-ray] which preceded it. The 14 episodes are as follows:
A Christmas Carol
The Impossible Astronaut
The Day of the Moon
The Curse of the Black Spot
The Doctor's Wife (not who you think)
The Rebel Flesh
The Almost People
A Good Man Goes to War
Let's Kill Hitler
Night Terrors
The Girl Who Waited
The God Complex
Closing Time
The Wedding of River Song

Slightly more than the sum of the parts, but to quote River Song, "it's early days" and the price should go down from competition. I have mine on order so I can capture any price drops. :-)

Also included are the following extras (for the first time available):

Extras:
Meanwhile in the Tardis feature - Newly filmed scenes telling what happens between the episodes:
Bad Night (Runtime: 3m 37s)
Good Night (Runtime: 4m 50s)
First Night (Runtime: 2m 13s)
Last Night (Runtime: 3m 32s)
Up All Night (Runtime: 1m 55s)
Comic Relief 2011 mini episodes - Space and Time (Approx. 8m; These are worth watching multiple times!)
Prequels:
The Impossible Astronaut (Runtime: 1m 48s)
Curse of the Black Spot (Runtime: 1m 23s)
A Good Man Goes to War (Runtime: 1m 36s)
Let's Kill Hitler (Runtime: 1m 55s)
The Wedding of River Song (Runtime: 1m 11s)
Doctor Who Confidential featurettes - An inside look at each episode (Note: These are shortened versions of "Doctor Who Confidential", lasting about 10 minutes each, not the original 45 minute versions shown only in the UK. I've always been disappointed in this.)
Monster Files featurettes - Get under the skin and inside the minds of the new Doctor's most challenging opponents
Audio commentaries
Trailers and Trails feature
UPDATE (Oct 9th): What it does NOT contain is the "Doctor Who at the Proms 2010" Special that was included with the Christmas Carol single. While disappointing, it is still nice to have the bevy of previously unreleased material.

I grew up watching Tom Baker as the Doctor on PBS. I always had trouble getting into any of the other actor's incarnation of the Doctor that I had seen. Then recently as I was scrolling through the various options of my Prime videos I happened to click on an option I had passed over many times previously, it was a Christmas special Doctor Who. I was bored and expected to quickly abandon it in hopes of finding something decent. It was the first time I watched Matt Smith as the Doctor, I stuck with the first few minutes and quickly realized I liked his incarnation of the Doctor very much. Funny, serious and nutty, he does it all well.
Season 6 is Matt's second season, all of them are great on their own, and together they make a great story. The production, acting and stories are all well done in any of the Doctor and the Ponds. Few if any of the characters were uninteresting, and Amelia was probably one of the better sidekicks. Can't go wrong with this if you like Sci Fi, in particular if you liked any other versions of Doctor Who. Matt is up there with among my favorite.

I wish I could give it four and a half stars, at the same time I won't bump the score up to five. I love the box set, I look forward to watching the special features, but in my opinion this isn't the best season. I came into Doctor Who by accident right before the rest of season seven started airing and thought it was the most bizarre and wonderful thing. At times season six feels more like I'm watching a strange spinoff about Amy, Rory, and River. No spoilers but this is the season where things get weird, even by Doctor Who standards.
The first five seasons had me enthralled and glued to my TV. This season had me confused (I was watching BBC America edits) more than excited. I'm guessing this is also when they started splitting up the season. As someone who watched the entire new series fairly quickly I felt that the episodes in six didn't flow together quite as nicely as they did in the previous seasons. Things didn't go as smoothly, it seemed like maybe the writers were rushed and maybe things weren't as well thought out. Despite the flaws it's still a great season. "The Doctor's Wife" is one of my favorites, the show is fun to watch, the cast is absolutely delightful. Not the best season but still better than most shows I've watched.

I got hooked the first time I saw Doctor Who on TV (the one where Christopher Eccleston plays as The Doctor). So much so, that I have bought almost every single Doctor Who seasons/series on dvd (i.e. the ones where Christopher Eccleston, David Tennant and Matt Smith play as The Doctor). I still cannot accept or watch Peter Capaldi as The Doctor, because (1) his heavy Scottish accent is hard to understand, and (2) he played Caecilius in the "Fires of Pompeii" episode of Doctor Who (I just keep seeing Caecilius whenever I see Capaldi play as The Doctor).

The writing/scripts are excellent. Everything starts with the writing/story, then everything else builds from there. The acting is great, the music is great, the visual effects are great, etc.

In this Series and the next, Steven Moffat (Head Writer & one of the Exec Producers) has placed too much emphasis on the mystery of the Doctor's name. Too much so. Normally, I would not think on it, but this Series has made me do so. So, given that River Song's Number 1 Rule is "The Doctor Lies", and other evidence (such as his devious & manipulative manner) from the this and previous series, my conclusion is that the Doctor's name is Beelzebub Jr., or Beelzebub III / IV / etc. In other words, The Doctor's father, grandfather or great-grandfather was Beelzebub (The Lord of Lies). Given the evil reputation of Beelzebub, The Doctor is, thus, trying to runaway from his Legacy.

I have watched the Christopher Eccleston, David Tennant and Matt Smith Doctor Who series FIVE times, and will probably rewatch them again! That is how good everything is in these series.

Funny thing is, after watching them five times, I am finally seeing scientific improbabilities/mistakes and some plot holes. This series must be great, since I did not notice these mistakes during my first three viewings.

Love it Love it Love it! Along with all the other season!
Very child friendly. Rarely has any kind of bad words and when they do it's the d-word but incredibly rare. Shows somewhat low necked shirt or dresses but doesn't zoom in or anything and is also very rare ( most of the time it's time period appropriate clothing such as Victorian or Egyptian royalty)
There an occasion crude word like savage, heathen, disgusting, etc, but is always used as describing words fitting towards who or what they actually are. We are a no R-rated anything family. We don't watch/tolerate people being show in underwear or lingerie. We don't watch anything with bedroom scenes or too much intimacy in general. We don't watch things with a lot of cursing or anything with any word other than the occasional d-word only. As a family we do not watch/look/listen to anything that wouldn't be appropriate for a young child and we believe that dr who is probably the best show around right now that fits our criteria while also being very entertaining for everyone.
