5.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas I love these little things! 24 de noviembre de 2012

This is the most convenient desiccant I've ever used! To reactivate it fast, place it on a microwave safe plate, and microwave it the recommended time. As another review stated, moisture will condense on the inside surface of the heat resistant clear plastic box. The simple way to deal with this is to use a hand held blow dryer. You can easily blow the moisture out of the box and onto the plate beneath it. If your dryer has a cool shot function, using that will even decrease the time it takes to cool the silica down, to enable you to place it back in the microwave faster. I put mine in a zip-lock bag and place it in the freezer to cool it down fast. When it has cooled, wipe the water off of the plate and run the desiccant through another cycle in the microwave etc., (take it out of the zip-lock bag first!). It takes several cycles of this to completely reactivate the silica, (as little as 10 minutes total time). Aside from being much faster, using this method avoids heating up the house in the summer with a conventional oven! Note: Because of their small size, these are best suited to keeping small containers dry.

2.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Recharge? 1 de noviembre de 2014
Por Peter - Publicado en Amazon.com
Tamaño: 10-Pack Compra verificada
Seller did their job - ontime delivery, intact. Have used eight (of ten) of these, with three 'recharge' cycles. Product did well until after the second recharge, per mfr's instructions. Now, about a [random] third of the spheres will not change color back from dark (used) to original (dry) orange. Separately, have used both recommended microwave and oven methods per mfr's instructions on OEM package. Have not overheated the product during recharging.
Interestingly, in a separate order, I purchased "ATD Tools 7886 Jar of Replacement Desiccant" and "Home Value 10 Count Stainless Steel Mesh Tea Ball"; I made my own Dessicant canisters (each one about twice the volume of the "Dry-Packs"). They appear to be working as would be expected, side-by-side with the Dry-Packs. For my application, both types of these silica gel dessicant contaners are used in a relatively low humidity environment (<25%, rarely above 40%), so the process takes longer than most other applications. More will be revealed.

5.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Perfect for pelican cases 1 de julio de 2012
Por Jack Sparrow - Publicado en Amazon.com

I've had this thing for almost two weeks and it's been great so far. I have a pelican 1500 case and this is perfect for keeping stuff dry inside the case.

This stuff turns dark swamp green when it comes in contact with moisture. The transition is obvious and a very nice feature. If you dump water on the beads you will hear them crack and pop. My guess is they are expanding too fast and fracturing but they look fine to me. If you want to see them color change I'd use steam instead of water. Let them absorb water slowly.

A word of caution. Don't microwave for too long. Follow the directions and do it multiple times. 2 minutes on high and the plastic case starts to melt. So if you microwave either do it on a lower power setting or follow the instructions exactly. I prefer using the oven. It's much safer.

For those of you complaining about the size.. what do you expect? Anything measured in grams isn't going to be big. If want something for a big long-gun safe Dry-Packs sells the same cobalt-free stuff in 4.5 lb quantities (and larger). Or you can go the kitty litter route but I like have the color indicator. Anyone that's complaining about the size needs to check their reading glasses.
5.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas A Must For Electronics and IEMs 22 de febrero de 2017
Por Hayden - Publicado en Amazon.com

I store my in-ear monitors (IEMs) in pelican cases with one of these along side them. It keeps them from corroding and operating like new. Also perfect for gym earphones, camera cases, safes, etc.

If you need to keep items dry, these are a must!

However, if you have a powerful microwave, I would not recharge them in the microwave. The plastic will melt.

Instead, carefully remove the top cover, and carefully pour the silica beads in an oven safe container. Then 're-charge' the beads in the oven on 375 for a few hours. When the beads settle to room temp (while still in the oven), pour them back in the container, and place back in an airtight setting.

That said, these work best (and last the longest) in small, airtight containers. If the container they're stored in isn't air tight, they can turn green overnight.

When they turn dark green, they must be recharged. Although they turn lighter green after recharging, they never returned to their nice orange color.

Nevertheless, I've used these for years and they work --keeping my most cherished electronics operating like new, years after purchasing.
4.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Effective humidity control for small space 12 de septiembre de 2016
Por Colin O - Publicado en Amazon.com

This is a nice product for controlling humidity in a small container. So far I have successfully "recharged" it twice. When fresh, it keeps my 11x8 Pelican case at 21% humidity according to my temperature monitor. It slowly creeps up after about 3 months to 35%, after which I recharge it again. Keep in mind, this is during the summer months when ambient humidity is typically between 40-60% or higher.

It is small, which I chose intentionally so as not to take up all the room in my relatively small Pelican case. I gave four stars only because recharging it seems to be more an art than a science. I microwave it in 20 second bursts, letting it cool in between. If you let it cool for too long each time then it takes more "cycles" so to speak. But if you don't let it cool enough, it can melt. Whatever you do, don't microwave it for more than 30 seconds or it will start to melt. I learned the hard way.
