Descripción del producto

Jennifer Marsh is a mystery writer with a stack of eight unpublished manuscripts and rejection letters to match filling her closet. She's sure that if she can just get famous for something, someone will have to publish her books. Why not murder?

She'll find a target so mean that she'd actually be doing the world a favor by bumping him or her off. And she knows just the person:
Penney Richmond, a high-powered literary agent who's made it her job to ruin people's lives. All Jennifer has to do is frame herself, do the deed, and come out with an iron-clad alibi, and she'll be well on her way to getting a three book deal. So what if she chickens out at the last minute? A vegetarian good girl who rescued a greyhound could never actually kill someone. But when Penney is found murdered and the police think Jennifer did it, she’d better find the real murderer before she goes away... for life.

Along with her eccentric writer's group, spunky old ladies with a nose for sleuthing, her neurotic greyhound, and a sexy, sarcastic reporter named Sam, Jennifer embarks on a journey filled with danger, deception, and disguises that could leave her Dying to Get Published...

The main character, as-yet-unpublished author Jennifer Marsh, decides to plan a murder in order to liven up her writing. A touch of realism, or writing what she knows by planning it. But when the murder really happens, her plans make her suspect number one.
It's an easy, quick-paced story, and Jennifer is a bit quirky. Nice, occasionally a dingbat, has her moments, but quirky. She has a new romantic interest that adds some fun to the story, and lots of female friends who are supportive. Plus, the victim is obviously deserving of murder -- a book agent. In addition to being well-written, with great story-lines, there were some seriously funny moments that made me smile repeatedly (people seem to frown on you laughing out loud when you are by yourself reading on buses or in restaurants, so I held myself to grinning).
The book was a little tough for me to get into at first, and I initially hated the main character who talks to her future, as yet unconceived, child on a fairly regular basis as a plot device.
I received no compensation, not even a free copy, in exchange for this review. I am not personal friends with the author, but I did interact with her online.

The author takes an old plot line and extends it beyond credibility. Her plot lacks any semblance of problem solving technique. There is no logical progression from crime to criminal. The book hardly qualifies as an organized entity. That said, I have to add, that I enjoyed it. The enjoyment rests on her handling of the heroine, an unpublished novelist, and her primary interactions in the book: with the man on the scene, her novelist support group, and her newly made patron, an elderly matron.
In the end, what mattered was the congenial nature of the writing and characters; for me this overcame the fragility of the plot. Understandably, others will have quite legitimate negative responses. It is for the reader to choose what is most important.

This aspiring author belongs to a club with other aspiring authors. Each has their own genre but bounce ideas off each other. None of these members is very good and lend almost nothing to the story.

Our heroine, is a mystery writer who is drawing a blank on how to plan a perfect murder. Wha La ... why not plan one herself, and Do it ? She has the perfect target. Her nasty publishing critic. Although she finally figures out the steps needed to accomplish this.... she finds its much more complicated than she expected.

Not to ruin it for you, should you decide to read it, I wont go any farther except to say it is so unbelievable and silly that i laughed At it ... not With it. Oh and by the way ... for some unknown reason her hopes to have a son someday are constantly being referenced. She has even named this unborn, hoped for son. Weird. This book was OK, but I could have found a better one to spend my time on.

This is the first book in the Jennifer Marsh series. It is actually the second I have read. So I knew who most of the characters were because I had read the seventh book first.
This is a light hearted cozy mystery. It shows how eager and desperate writers are to get their work published and noted.

Jennifer Marsh is a single writer who has 8 finished novels in her closet. She is tired of getting rejected. She gets a idea that if she commits a real murder with a alibi and lead the police right to her. Someone will want to publish her. So she starts plotting. She works part-time for a catering job.

A agent who is rude and hateful will be her target. She really does not want to murder her but figures out if she can plan it all the way then she will be able to write her mysteries.

Of course things don't fall her way. I figured out part of who the killer was and why just not the name.

I wanted Jennifer to get her book published by the end of the book. I cared about her and her friends. I could not believe she was so desperate to even think of planning a murder.

I got the ebook free from Amazon.

The "failed author going to murder Nasty Someone as an experiment" is an interesting hook, but it wasn't done well here. The overlooked homonyms irritated me. So did the way the book dragged on. It could have been tighter. That might have "saved" it for me. I did finish it. I'm still not quite sure why. Probably because I kept hoping it would improve as it went. I got this for free, and I really dislike saying anything bad about it because of that, but ...
